Yeah it makes very good oil, just not alot. Cuz the thc is only at the surface. Also stems being, lignous, you get very pure oil, no chlorophyle at all.

Stems are the best to make oil personally i find, the good ones though the bud stems.

You could put em in a mason jar, stems broken up, pour in some 70% iso alcohol ( cannot tell you how much, dont know how much stems ya got) shake for like 2 minutes , filter through a coffee filter , gather on a plate, let evaporate free air (long) , or on a double boiler. Be careful about heating too much though.

You could also use butane, its a bit more tricky, but you will get more for the buck im pretty sure, or at least, same quantities of oil, but stronger.

Ok I crushed up the stems and let them soak in rubbing alcohol for about an hour, shaking them up periodically, and poured it through the coffee filter and then let it sit overnight, now it's on the stove on very very low heat, and I'm just waiting waiting waiting, thanks for the advice, i will keep you updated. :)

cool! Dont forget to let it evaporate until you get it off the stove and it is like a crust! Then you can make a ball out of it.

I was telling you 2 minutes of shaking...but thats when you need like real strong oil, hippie crack haha . More time shaking, more oil, just less pure. Everyone is happy. The end.

but mmm , maybe you have tried it now unless it got on fire hehe but no, I wish you to enjoy it.

well...what it looks like for me is like green liquid at first, the mnore it evaporates the more little cloths appear, then at the end its like a layer with cloths everyhwere.

If you tilt the plate, and no drops of water you see, its done , just let it on free air half an hour and smoke.

    Do you have a pic???

If you did it right should be like , crusty, powdery, or very sticky , but not like liquid sticky. The more it tends to be on the sticky part, the darker the color. Id say if there was no liquid anymore and its turning black get it off!

Heating downs the potency , dont heat it too much. Should see a cloud flowing up but not like a volcano. Even better to not use heat, but dust gets in and its really long.

    fill us in I guess

theres still some liquid in it, and i have it in a bowl instead of a plate,, there's little black "flakes" almost and when i touch it, it is sticky and smells really potent, and in the actual liquid it's like,, cloudy.. I just took it off the heat when i jumped in the shower and let it cool off, now i put it back on the stove and i'm going to keep a close watch on it. I dont have a camera otherwise I owuld take pictures... Thanks for your help,

ok my friend came over with a digital camera and took pictures for me. See the black stuff at the bottom? I dont know what that is. It doesnt smell like rubbing alcohol anymore, and when i rub it with my fingers it feels wet but then it kinda goes away. I kinda know what you mean about the black sticky stuff, but it's only on the sides. Should I let it sit on the stove some more? Did I mess it up???

Yeah well when all will be evaporated you will scrape it. Still lots of liquid it seems.

You didnt fuck it up , looks normal. Just pour it on a larger surface that is easy to scrape like a plate, and put it again on the stove. But on top of a pot with boiling water, as the heat source. Safer. Should blow you away if good stems ;p

If it doesnt smell like alcohol anymore its just water, means you used a bit too much alcohol. Bah , youll know for next time.

You can use vaped but makes very weak oil. So I wouldnt.

Stems and shake is the way to go. If ya got lots of buds to waste then butane better choice.

Whenever SWIM uses alcohol the product ends up incredibly sticky and hard to work with. Anyone else seen that happen?

Just wanted to say thanks to both of you guys for the pictures and information on the oil making process. I was wondering if crushing up the stems by the use of a grinder would help making the oil more potent arter filtering? Also, should you filter the contents of stems and alcohol onto a glass plate or a metal one? Does it make a difference? Also, should I let it sit out over night then boil the next day if needed in glass or a regular aluminum pan? Thanks again for all your help.
