Wow, you would think, after all the progress we have made, this wouldn't still be happening. There is NO law that says breastfeeding mothers have to accept "blankets" to cover their baby's heads, if they are offered. There are no states, even if their aren't protective laws in place, where breastfeeding in public is "illegal" and Delta was totally in the wrong here. As for "offending people" this is not a reason to try to stop someone from doing something. What if someone drinking alcohol "offends" me, would I be within my rights to demand everyone who is drinking cover themselves up with a blanket, to stop offending my sensitive self? NOOOOO! That would be MY problem, as is people who are "offended" by babies breastfeeding. They can look away and/or they can say nothing. Their being "offended" is outweighed by the mother and baby's right to do what they are doing.
That's noble of her to want the donation to a group rather than the money for herself. I hope all works out for her.
that really sucks, i probably wouldnt have had as much self control as that lady did towards the flight attendant! i think there probably would have been some voice-raising! lol. i hope the airline doesnt get away with it
wow, i feel so bad for that mother.... i would be so upset... and my hubby (right wing as he is) would be totally furious!
That is just disgusting, she was being perfectly reasonable about it. If you're 'offended' by a woman feeding her child as nature intended, well then quit staring at her chest, dumbass. Hope the powers that be see sense.
I hope the plane was grounded when she was ordered to exit. I have a bad sense of humor. That is a total bullshit thing to do. I don't understand what is so offensive about breast-feeding. It is a natural thing to do, it's cost effective, and the best thing to do for the baby. I am extremely proud of my wife for breastfeeding Skye for as long as she did. Weening him wasn't hard at all. They just kinda stopped breastfeeding together. He didn't care and she dried up after she became pregnant again.
i could never feed my babies under a blanket. it's dark and hot and stuffy and sweaty and it's hard to breath under there. the flight attendant should try eating his/her lunch with his/her head completely covered with a blanket!!! THAT is not natural! grrrrr! i'm glad she's taking legal action. i hope she wins her case! kathy
Surely there are more offensive things that go on on a plane than breastfeeding. The flight attendant was the one being rude.
this really upsets me. i think that due to this incident all flight attendants should be given a course on the law and breasfeeding and after wards given a "test" and if any one gets a d or below should either have to take the class again or get fired. i have flown so many times since aiden was born and each time i pretty much breastfed him for half the flight i never had a problem except for one time. that one time was when they were coming around with the drink carts and i was in the aisle seat and nursing aiden and those seats are so damn tiny that i had to have part of aidens feet on shanes lap and his head sticking out a bit and the lady comes by and without even noticing she hits his head with the cart and i had to quickly adjust him and she just gave me a dirty look. i was so upset with her i asked her to be a bit more careful and try to look ahead before you pushthe cart. she just walked on by with the same dirty look on her face.
I cant believe how rude people can be! It's absolutely ridiculous! Like, hello people, that is what nipples are MADE for! What do people think, that we just want everyone to look at our tits?? What gives them the right to be rude just because we are feeding our children?
OH my god i can believe that.. she actually hit your child with the cart and didn't apologise... not only that but she acted like it was your fault? what a bitch! jeeze... now i'm upset! and it wasnt even my kid! lol
THis kind of thing just makes me SO MAD!!!!GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! Ok,maybe PMS and sexist/repressionist news stories don't mix. I see plenty of stuff that I find offensive all the time (I live in the south, confederate flag up the block for one) but I don't go around trying to cover it up with a blanket. They oughta make that flight attendant eat her lunch under a blanket. A creepy, scratchy, who-know-who's-been-under-there-before-you airline blanket to boot.
There a local Las Vegas goup that i visit frequently. They are very Attatchment natural parenting geaed. And they are planning a peaceful nurse in. They did this a few months back at Victoria Secret because of a similar issue with a breastfeeding mom. I love it when they do this. There very peaceful, just bringing attention to something that may not be thought about by the general public. Which i think is what really needs to be done.
It never fails to amaze me what people take "offense" to. You should be able to feed a child no matter where you are. That is sad that we can continue to be this up tight as a society. I have heard women at work bitching about other women brestfeeding. From my experience most men don't seem to have very many problems with it, it always seems like women reacting to it. You would think that wouldn't be the case.
Wow. I don't have childern. But I do one day. This just floors me. Does the flight attendant have no boobs? Has she not seen any? What's so offensive about something the flight attendant has? And WTH no other passengers were complaining. So what's the big deal about this? It's natural. Some people just need to get a clue.
MOst of the women that take offense to breastfeeding mothers are mothers that chose not to breastfeed, I've found. Grr....
that makes me SO MAD. people who are grossed out by breast feeding offend me, but I don't ask them to cover up their baby and it's bottle with a blanket. most of the time when a woman is breast feeding, you can MAYBE see half an inch of exposed breast anyways, so whats the big godamn deal? since when do flight attendants have enough authority to have someone removed from a plane?
