The U.S.-Mexico border problem seems eternal and no-win, right? Wrong. I know a satisfying permanent solution, namely, dissolve the cruddy Mexican government along with the border, then megamerge the two countries, creating a bunch of new U.S. states and encouraging massive 2-way migration to equalize development and opportunities. Not by force, but by mutual consent, I'm not advocating a military takeover, just acceptance by the U.S. Congress of statehood petitions by the new states after I talk them into making them Is this a good or a dumb idea from a libertarian POV? Check out the complete proposal on my Web page: http://tlwinslow.weebly.com/megamerge-the-dissolution-solution.html Ciao, T.L. Winslow Denver, Colo. USA
That is absolutely preposterous. The US has plenty of its own problems. Why should it take on all of Mexico's too?
Here is a better idea, lets end the war on drugs along with the welfare/warfare state. Reduce government regulation and OPEN the borders. Let Mexicans and US citizens cross the border whenever they want.
Well now see that's just not practical, no matter what type of system you have there's still going to be dangerous nutjobs out there and we should know who's coming in and out of the country
By limiting the people coming you are limiting the law abiding people from coming in. Those "nutjobs" that would want to do harm really don't care how they get in. If putting limits on people really worked we wouldn't have a problem would we. What about the few "nutjobs" that are in the country? Should we monitor everyone in the US? Who gets to decide who is a "nutjob"?
Some of our American nut-jobs will most likely go murder some Mexicans, so you will see no net nut-job increase.
i agree with walker in the woods. that is the view that u will see most libertarians reccommend. closed borders simply dont work. mexico isnt the only border problem. it just happens to be the biggest problem. people illegally enter america from all over the world.
