Nvidia and Intel could win the AI PC war with this secret weapon What this article doesn't explain, is how all these versions of unified memory are just bullshit they use to jack up the price of their chips. The sad truth is, memory chips have not kept up with graphics cards or processors, because everybody is waiting for next generation memory. Its the same problem we have with flash drives and other types of temporary storage, with everyone waiting for the next gen 2d transistors to settle the issue. For example, all the progress with Mram means it should become a defacto standard soon enough, and your laptop should require about 10x less memory, which makes it cheaper and easier to add more for AI applications. Sadly, they're all creating their own little closed systems for memory, when its quite possible to create a laptop with something like Mram and high speed connections, that you could shove a flash drive or whatever into, and it could become more AI compatible. They're all trying to gouge everyone for memory. Note that Nvidia is investing heavily in everyone, including OpenAI and now Intel, and just can't throw money at them fast enough to stop the stock market from crashing, while this article is one of several right now, all suggesting our economy is stronger than it looks and, Please Don't Panic!!! The Chinese can make 100 laptops for every one we make, and all this bullshit on the electronics international market is about to get a market correction.
