I've noticed real stong views from people ranging from pure hate to homosexual love towards this dude. What the fuck do ya'll think about him?
He's a well-paid, well-promoted propagandist who disseminates half-truths mixed with spin. But what else would he be, being the establishment shill that he is? He's no different from any of the other pundits, from both the left and the right, who are well-paid to do what they do. The establishment needs people like Moore to create a false opposition. You do this by giving people only small bits of the truth, combined with political spin to make people think everything is left vs. right. This only further polarizes people instead of bringing people together, and the only way to bring people together is to drop the political spin and simply state the facts. The facts are that there is no left wing or right wing, as both wings belong to the same bird. Moore is nothing more than a left wing Bill O'Reilly. One side cannot exist without the other, and this is part of the dialectic which has lead us down the road to where we are today.
I've always liked him. I was always grateful for the information he gave us, and what he's attempted to expose. Since he first came on the scene, in my circles he was always well recieved. It wasn't until Bowling for Columbine that I think, I actually heard him dissed anywhere and usually by mainstream media. When I landed at Hip Forums I found a whole other dimension of opinions about him I'd never heard before, such at PRs statement above. My question would be is he a willing shill, or is he just doing what does because he believes in it and it just happens to serve the government's purpose of opposing sides? Just like anything else I read or watch these days, I try to read inbetween the lines of what's being fed to me. No matter what 'official'/popular entity it comes from.
I like his work, and find him entertaining. The way he got started in the business looks very shady, though I don't know the details of the case. He's also wrong about guns, for the most part.
I admire Moore's willingness to examine unpopular subjects and viewpoints. What other dissenting voices are there on issues such as healthcare, corporate greed, and free and irresponsible access to lethal weapons? I don't think Rat has it right on this one. Just because a person dissents loudly doesn't make him part of a huge conspiracy to establish opinion or muddy the waters.
i think you gotta remember that when you become famous and people know you have made money, all of a sudden they're your best friend and deserve cash gifts. michael moore is in no way obligated to give away every cent he makes. i'm sure these people are unaware of the contributions he has made. besides, where's the money for his next film supposed to come from if he gives everything away. he's running a business like any other. you have to reinvest to keep it going. sorry, it's just too easy to make pot shots at people when they're successful at what they do. whether you agree with everything he says or not, you have to admit he's a good filmmaker. geezuz people, at least he's not making movies that glorify war like most of those hollywood schnooks.
Lady of the Freaks, But not all of the criticizm towards Moore is about money. Some people who appeared in his documentries felt he misused them.
Just a guy with the balls to say something. At a time when everyone was too scared to even breath, Moore got out there and antagonized the powers that be.
But did he really? Who and what are the powers that be? I have never heard Michael Moore talk about them.
But they're not at the top. You need to ask yourself who OWNS these corporations.... who the top shareholders are. Who controls the money system and determines the value of the currency? The corporations are only the means to an end -- not the be all, end all.
just because he hasn't exposed every corrupt entity in the universe that you feel should be, doesn't mean his work has no value. there's a lot to do out there and it takes all of us doing it.
I don't believe the madia or whoever will let the common people know that question. You got a point there, who are in charge of all this bullshit?I don't believe in an illuminati or the frickin' Masons or world wide Jewery myths.
If one is to follow Rat's reasoning, at least he's taking potshots at their lieutenants. Our congress are afraid to even address their excesses. If their middle management can be reined in perhaps these elitists will have to work harder to attain their goals.
