Since being pregnant I have started getting migraines. I have never had one before and I must say it is the most painful thing ever. Do any of you guys get migraines? If so, how many years have you had them? Also, what do you do to make them go away?
I do not have them. Thank God. But my mom did and my sister does. I have a friend who has suffered a constant migraine for more than 5 years. I sure do hope you feel better. Perhaps look into some diet changes.
My brother has them..he takes alot of excedrin..I suggested a diet change to him also. He eats way to many ramen..like some kind of obsession.
I recently bought peppermint oil. I put it on a damp cloth and put it on my forehead while I lie down in a dark room. It's not as fast as pain meds, but it is soothing for me.
My mom had migraines when she was pregnant... she said it is all the hormones and I just need a prescription from the doctor. Kinda nervous it is a boy because she only had migraines with my brother.
do you want a girl instead? You will love them whatever they are. The prego hormones can do so much to the body. I've witnessed some sad things. Like a friend who lost all her teeth
my mom gets them. she takes four aspirin at the first signs and lays down and they don't last too long. I have no idea what's okay to take during pregnancy. the closest i've gotten to one had no pain involved.. i got that "aura" where i couldn't see right.. couldn't see my own face in the mirror, and was a little confused. i had a manager where i used to work who was found in the dining room totally unaware of her surroundings. she was in the hospital for about a week, lots of tests were done and they didn't know what was wrong with her. she eventually got better and they deduced it was a cluster of migraines.
A FRIEND LOST ALL HER TEETH? Gah, thank god I am going to the dentist soon. I really do want a girl... I am sure I will love them both either one... But I think a girl is a good start for us. John would be so good with a little girl. My dad told me it just goes with your nurturing nature as a man. I think a boy would excite John too much, haha. Doing all those things he dreams of... like football and cub scouts. Well, so far pregnancy has been doing weird things. Stuffy nose, morning sickness at 18 weeks, and migraines. I am excited for what is in store in the coming weeks.
Wow... that is really scary... like real scary. I sometimes get them to the point of throwing up... I can't find my med list but I know extra strength Tylenol is okay.
i get them from time to time. i used to take imitrex for them...not anymore i try to stay away from that shit. it makes me pass out and lose the sense of time. so when i do get them, i work on releasing tension in my neck and upper back. fix my posture and such.
change in diet. check online for migraine triggers. ice pack to the base of the skull. peppermint oil on your temples and a dab beneath each nostril. rose oil, while not my favorite, is wonderful for relieving migraine symptoms. i have lived the proof of it. maybe mix up a little bottle of peppermint rose oil for migraines, keep ice packs handy, or even frozen edamame, they really hold the cold better than just about anything. LOADS of water.
Its weird my diet is healthy... what could I possibly change? I do drink plenty of water.... I will try the ice thing.
all excellent ideas! i've had them for 32 years.. fucking sucks! i'd rather be in labor than have a migraine.. seriously. drink more water.. diet changes like KC said... definitely talk to a doctor that knows about migraines... GET A SECOND OPINION! i, luckily, had LESS migraines while i was pregnant with my kids. if they continue after words.. i've got all sorts of "not pregnant friendly" remedies i can share with you.
healthy foods can trigger migraines, too. just look up what's online, maybe you're having a reaction to some particular vegetable or fruit or seasoning.
