the biggest thing about being vegetarian is always cooking for myself, by myself. its been a little over two yrs and i miss the comradery of living with other people who eat like me.

I understand how you feel. Its is even a bit agrivating having to defend and explain my beliefs when I say I don't eat meat. It took my roomate a long time to leave me alone about when i first moved in there.

I have never met another vegetarian outside the forums here. This vegetarian board is my main reason for coming to this site, otherwise I would have nobody to discuss it with.

    Elle,
It's kinda sad that you don't know any other veggies. In college, I know plenty and the rest of the omnis are pretty accepting.

Anyway, I know I still cook veg food for my omni friends and they like what I cook. As long as its something pretty safe, most people are down for a veggie meal, so invite someof your friends over and make your favorite. You may even make a convert.

I usually make some sort of pasta or curry for my non-veg friends.

    elle, where are you?
most states/ provinces have a veg society (I'd assume the UK societies are active)
is there a Seventh-Day Adventist church in your area? They are mostly veg (allow fish..long uncomprehendable story)

Well, Im from Miami (many veggies there), however I have moved out of state in the last couple of years and just stopped eating meat this year. Now that you mention it.....I did meet another veg once.....when I was still a meat eater. She was my boss and she was a member of the church you cited. But I dont actually know any....especially since I am currently living in a small town in the south:( I'm assuming little if any veg/vegans (trust me;))......I A veg society? I'll have to look that up or somthing...I have never heard of it before. Thanks:D
Oh and now Im interested to know why those7th day adventists allow fish. .......hmmmmmmm

wow that'd be awful to be the only veggie! that's how it was kinda for me in high school - just me and my best friend.

now though i live in a town that has an arts school and for some reason arts school = vegetarians and vegans everywhere! one of my good friends is actually working on setting up a vegan/veggie catering service.

can't you still cook with the omnivores? my roommates are both omnis and we still cook together. if you say "hey i'm making this mean curry, you guys want in?" i doubt they're gonna say "OH MY GOD IT DOESN'T HAVE MEAT?! SCREW THAT!" hehe :)

my friend stayed with me for a week and she was basically vegetarian the whole time...
my friends and housemate would never care if i cook without meat...i just say too bad for them, and it tasktes good anyway, and better for yah!
no matter where i go in life being a vegetarian is never going to cause a problem

I've never had a fellow veggie to cook with but the idea seems awfully nice. I once had a friend who was a vegetarian and would sometimes watch me cook, but that's really not the same thing.

Maybe it'd be fun to organize a cooking party for the veg*ns in the area. Those pot lucks are nice and all, but I think it'd be more fun to get everyone involved in an activity. Like maybe there's an industrial kitchen somewhere that could be rented out...
