I love mixed breeds. Especially when it comes to dogs. I have an ACD pup that's mixed with German Shepard and Rottweiler. I love her more than any purebred. She's unique. That's why I love mixed breeds. Full of surprises. So I was wondering... anybody else got a little mutt of their own?
Mixed breeds are awesome My dog Rosie is a staffie and either lurcher or whippet cross, we're not entirely sure as she's a rescue dog and we have no background info on her other than the fact that someone had abandonedher and left her tied to a lamp post on a busy road when she was about 5 months old. We got her a few weeks later, luckily, as she is the best dog in the world. Here's a photo, she's about a year old now.
I'm also a huge fan of mutts! I had a lab/rottweiler/shar-pei that was absolutely amazing (she looked almost like a purebred yellow lab with tons of extra wrinkles, haha)... Our last dog, Kodos, is bullmastiff (half), boxer, rottweiler and lab. We had to leave him behind when we moved from Canada to the States, but we already had him a home with a good friend where he's very well taken care of, and he was such a good dog we knew she wouldn't have any trouble with him. He's amazing, definitely the most human-like dog I have EVER known... This is what his new mommy does to him when they get bored, haha!
Cool. Well, I guess I should post one of mine! Here's me and Molly. http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/6470/4122008115126amoj0.jpg
I agree wholeheartedly that mixed breeds are simply the best! If you check out my gallery I have many pictures of all my dogs who are all rescues and I will admit that more than once they have rescued me too!
i have squirrel!!! she is a border terrier X west highland white. a shock to the system after only owning border collies for years, but i wouldn't part with her for the world! and so she doesn't feel left out, here os my border collie, brighid they are the very best of friends!
Id like a staffy cross, a beagle cross and a lurcher one day And the lab mixes are really nice. Lovely dogs on here
I agree, the best dogs in my life have always been mixed breeds. Here's a pic of my current one, a terrier mix. She is the one laying on the carpet in front of the 3 retrievers. I have no idea what she is, everyone has a different idea of what it could be. Everything from JRT, beagle, minpin, and all kinds of stuff. But she's the best dog ever.
i have a border too bunjies! i think he might be pure but im not sure, hes a rescue. shock to the system is a good way of putting it... lol. i love him so much, he is so loyal and wonderful. my other doggie is a shepherd cross, also very awesome. lol at rapist chicken. that lady, however learned and respectable she may be, obviously knows nothing about chickens! i can assure you, the concept of rape shouldnt be applied to them. roosters "rape" hens all the time. the hens would rather go about their dusting and pecking and chick raising, but procreation really must occur. roos forcing themselves on hens is just how it happens lol.
My dog Merlin is a Lab mix--I'm not sure what he's mixed with--but my best guess is probably Lab-Doberman mix! Of course, the last time I was at the vet with him, one lady there said she thought he looked like he was part Chow-Chow (he's got a spotted tongue--I don't know which one of his parents he got that from--I never got to see the parent dogs! )! Anyway, he's a good dog--I've had him since he was a puppy (I brought him home at the age of 5 weeks--but I didn't know how old the puppies were at the time--not until the lady who had the litter told me and my mom, and by that time I had Merlin in my arms and he was looking up at me with those big brown eyes of his--I couldn't resist! )! My first dog, Cinnamon, was also a mutt--she was half Sheltie and half Basset--and she was a terrific dog too--she died in April 2002 at the age of 10--she'd have been 11 if she'd have lived til her birthday in June! But yes, I do love mutts--I think they're about the best dogs in the world--not that I have anything against purebreds, but I've had more experience with mutts! Peace!
My dogs an ACD too! shes part something else, but we're not 100% sure. My dad thinks its whippet. But she looks just like an Austrailian Cattle Dog.
Labradoodles (Lab/Poodle) and Puggles (Pug/Beagle) have unique appearances. Rottweiler/Lab has the heavy-boned frame with a smaller head and body, less territorial, and easily approached by strangers. Likes fetching, swimming and is easy to train but has a "guarded" edge to it.
i agree! mixed breeds are so unique, and i think they have better personalities, and are smarter! my parents have the most ridiculously cute dog, monte. we think he's a corgi and pomeranian mix. i'll post pics soon!
