I kind of looked around on the forum and couldn't find how to do this. I'm dyed something yellow, tied it off then added blue to make the item green, and it turned a wierd color. Shouldn't I be able to pull of the green this way?
I'm off to work so I'll answer in depth later, but the short answer is depends on how the blues were built and the green you want. tell me what colors/brands/ sources of dye you are using. for instance, Rupert Gibbon and Spyder dyes are different from Dharma's.
I was using tulip from joannes, usually i get good colors from it. I'm tryin to figure out what site to order my procion from, all the sites either have small selection or are expensive
We always ordered everything except Better Black from Pro Chem. Try looking up Colorado Wholesale Dye. He was really nice when I stopped by seeking mint green (which only comes in 55 gal drums now.) He's mostly mail order. Dharma will do small amounts, but their recipes are unstable, so if you want to repeat colors, your mix recipe will not always work. as to your particular problem, what blue (and the mineral source if it is on the label) were you using, and what green do you want? On silk, I'll mix but for cotton, I'd rather have assurance in the color.
Meh a little bleach and I got em fixed. I'm making green w yellow on it for packers games. So I dyed some pants yellow, then tied em, then added blue to make the rest green. but it turned out wierd so I bleached em and made em green.
I usually put my blue down first, as lightly as possible, before adding the yellow to make green. This is using Procion MX, in squirt bottles, on cotton. It's turned out well for me so far
