Just curious if anyone else mixes religions to make there own "perfect religion"?

I find that a mix of Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism suits me best(thus far).

Is it acceptable to practice multiple religions simultaneously? Not that I care all that much about it being acceptable or not, it's just that one day, I may feel like going to temple and can't say I look forward to catching any flak over practicing multiple religions...

    Help?

Most all religions in the world today are composed of bits and pieces of other religions.

Everybody borrows a cup of sugar from somebody else.

wow...so umm this is TOTALLY me!

I was raised studying various religions...to this day I claim no particular religion, but I am religious. My religion consists of various philosophies from various religions. Yes, it is constantly evolving and changing.

A few people understand me, but a lot of people think I am religously deprived, and need to believe in something.Well I am here to say, I do believe in something :)

Second, you ask if its ok to practice multiple religons simultaneously. I mean I don't see why not. Ultimately each religion teaches about kindness (but to a much greater extent), how to be a good follower, and discusses life after death...

but most likely you will get sh*t for doing this...I mean i get it all the time, but I'm strong, and have learned that I don't give a da*n what other people think. Believe what you believe, and don't think any less of yourself when idiots judge you!

do what has you feeling right.

a lot of people wont understand you, or think you aren't deep, but they just dont understand the rhythm you dance to. you know what you need, not them. go for it.

that's depends on what do u mean by religion and why you want it

some of people try to do religion things just to fill up their empty life ( just for phsycological issues)
and that's tottaly wrong at least in my opinion.

xexon what u saied is right that's because let's say all the original religions like jewish , christians and islam and another original religions came from the god , the same god , the only god .
but still with all this knowlege in this world , millions of people pray for cows and rats and they believe they are gods .

sister , what u looking for is a religion to communicate with ur god , it's not a shirt suits u or not .

who create ur heart ur eyes ur world , isn't he a great god ?

there is a purpose why he create u and u shoud find it.

buddism and Hinduism are man made religions there is no holly books for those religions think about that as deep as u can.

read about all the religions first and ask questions and read there answers i those religions then read about islam but dont read part of it and leave the left of it , read every thing about islam im sure u will find it the one if u seek the truth .

media can change people's mind in a big way , take the fact that they made the palestinie kid throwing rocks on the isreali tank a terrorist and they made the israeli soldier firing him with m16 and RPGs is the peace demander. strange world isn't it ??

just to show u an example... http://youtube.com/watch?v=O5KvHB7_k-U&feature=related

he was protecting his lil kid

---well the second part that begins with "read about" this dude is definitely trying to convert you!

second stonie...man made religion eh? lol to some degree all religions are man made. and you are completely misinformed about the lack of religious texts within the Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

know your sh*t before your act like you know it!

Stonie all religions are man made and those eastern religions where before your so called original religions which are just ignorant arab interpretations of other religions. Mohammed was a disciple of a Siddha who was a Hindu and the prophet just got it wrong. Hinduism has more than one holy book and Buddhism has the Pali Canon which is 20,000 pages long.

It's been my observation that the thicker the holy book, the less worth a religion has spiritually.

You could write the teachings on Jesus on a 3x5 card.

The Qu'ran might be a little difficult to read between the lines for most people, but try Sufi writings. You might just be suprised :)

xexon originally Christianity had 100's of gospels but the Roman pagans who started his religion only kept 4. i hear The Gospel of Thomas is good but i never read it after finding that eastern philosophy goes deeper than western. Karmalized you should look up Advaita Vedanta if you havent yet, its the best philosophy. Vijnana Bhairava is the greatest book ever, its priceless.

Dude even on this thread people jump on and criticize the practice of other religions. I read something about the ignorant Arabic religions who stem from Hinduism...WOW...seriously why is there always a need to be condescending when it comes to religion??? I've read multiple manuscripts from many religious texts (of different religions) and trust me there are many overlapping characteristics.

because of this karmalized I do suggest you read some Islamic texts. Even if you don't put them into your bunch of philosophies you will have read it. I think its important to read things even if we have doubt, especially since you seem to have interest in religion. I respect it, and I encourage you to read up on as much as you can (when you have the time that is ;) )

and not to criticize any religion, but to some degree I agree with sunyatasamsara, in that the eastern religions are deeper...

anyway i am appalled by the criticism on this thread...its all about the acceptance and love even if its not what you believe...

To be honest, of all hte scripture I've read, the Qu'ran and Bhagavad Gita are my personal choices to constantly go back to for guidance and rejuvination of spirit when I feel troubled. Like I said, it might be hard for people to get around all of the history and practices of the people during the Prophets lifetime, but if you can stick with what Muhammad had to say, it's just as beautiful and full of love as the rest of them.
I wonder, Karmalized, since you mention Judaism, if you ever studied Kabbalah?

guys i ain't try to be a sneaky , i just told u to read cause i am a muslim and most of western people have an wrong idea about islam u know the media and shit , i just wish the good for all of you . islam is a big thing so if u want to understand it u have to start from the basics of islam then u read about the details . the religion is a law , lets be honest how it will be your country u live in without a strong and detailed law it won't be good if ur law has just 10 papers for example .

secondly , i think it's a big problem if u believe that all religions are man made religions that means non of religions are true and there is no god and all prophets are liers cause they create all this things .
