i wouldn't sell my car, i'd just stop driving it. the prices are already high enough to make me only drive when i have to.
i had already decided that my next car is going to run on greasel. the high gas prices have just reinforced that decision.
im putting 20$ a day into my cadillac just to get around, im about to trade it in for a much smaller car
Do ye think it's a good thing that petrol is so high priced? It would be good if it encouraged people to cycle anyway.
FloydSoul, yes and no. While it's great that people will drive less and bike/walk more (or even just use public transit), the problem is that our whole society is based on cheap oil. when gas prices go up, so do prices of everything else, thanks to transportation costs and the fact that so much of our "stuff" is made out of plastic (made with petroleum) or just that it is made with heat created by burning it. Food prices going up is especially worrysome, since that's a *kinda* important commodity.
also remember that many electric generation plants run on natural gas. so the electric mower or scooter STILL uses petrol/coal if you are on the grid. I have already begun going car lite, now everyone thinks I'm brilliant, as compared to crazy last summer. $1.80 was the drop all unneccessary trips number. I do have a couple day trips planned, but usually I would do that much more often. I'm balancing what the cost on RTD is to Boulder versus my own car. no decision yet.
before things get better...theyll get ALOT worse. its time to change our attitudes & our disposing ways. lets treat oil as if it were as rare as diamonds.
