There is a good sized group of us who want change in our town. It's not like our town is in horrible political turmoil or anything. It's the fact that the town is dying. We have a goal to get this town alive again and we need people who want to make the place a kind place to live. What's causing our town to die off? It's because the younger people want to move to the big city and not wanting to set up shops, businesses or families here.

Our town is the first in the region to have our public school run off of wind power. We have 2 medium sized towers that can been seen from the west as you come in. There are so many open store fronts in great condition for art galleries, health food shops, farmers market, deli's, cafes, etc. There are also older homes that can be bought and either renovated to recieve a green rating or if it's too far gone to fix, a perfect spot for alternative houses! We just need the people to come and live. We have been making progress with not just the wind power, but also a very successful jam festival that's held twice a year.

With beautiful places such as Toas NM, Eugene OR, Jerome AZ, and many other places around the USA, we would like to offer the chance to move to a place where you can live and work. The school is ranked one of the best in the region and in the state. We are 35 mins East from the city of Lubock and there are lots of places to camp, hike, fish and hunt (if you are into it).

This town's govt is run by older people who are still behind the times, but there are many people here who are ready for change and with people like us, we can make that happen in a positive light. Alot of the businesses here don't stay open all day because of the lack of people. Just think, you could be part of a town body to make it the greenest town in the state!

Our town is perfectly settled in this county, we are 35 miles from Lubbock so going to the city is a decent drive, plus it's the county seat. But with your help, we won't need to go to the city, everything will be right here! This town is very friendly, heck people still wave to each other on the roads! Did I mention you can see ALL the stars at night? The local lake is only 15 mins south of town, lots of catfish, bass, stripper and camping grounds.

If you would like to help make a difference and would like a great safe place to live, contact me and I can send you real estate info and such. We are very serious about this, not just because we live and work here, but because we would hate to see this town dry up. It's time for change and we need your help.

I will post all the town info that I have when I get home. If you are looking for Jobs and don't mind a ride share commute to Lubbock, there are many Lubbock job websites, some good some lame.

    www.jobspotonline.com
    www.everythinglubbock.com
www.lubbockonline.com (newspaper, it seems that the jobs are redirected to career builder, but they are still lubbock)
    www.workintexas.com (Texas job bank)

There are about 6-8 houses for sale here in town, but I don't have the info here at work. Like I said, I'll post it when I get home. So, moose, how did you like the area when you came down?

it was, errr, conservative and religious :p BUT i was thoroughly fascinated with the wildlife and the prospect of dust storms. Tumble weeds were cool too :p
I liked the people though, my neighbours we're really cool and despite being from out of country and completely new in town. So the people were really friendly...ohh that southern hospitality. Heh its also nice to go outside in February in a T-shirt as opposed to 4 layers of sweaters.

Well our goal is not to be a conservative and religious (driven by christianity like it is around here) town. That's the old way of how life is around here and it's killing the towns. Everyone who thinks that way talk about community, but wouldrather sit at home at watch TV and do nothing. This town needs to be slowly taken over by people like us so that something will happen. Like I said, all the young people are leaving and not coming back and the old people are dying off. Thus leaving the town for us to take over and mold into the place we want.

Whats the name of this town? I live in a town 30 min east of Amarillo that sounds alot like the one you speak of. I have a friend who recently moved to Lubbock and I have been considering it myself.

I don't mean to sound critical of Texas, but the only town in Texas I might stand living in, is Big Spring. That is one pretty and Clean probably City by now. Last I was there was too long to admit. (LoL) I think Reagan was in office.
