So I've been thinking about moving out of my parents' house for a long time now and I think I'm just about ready to do it. I'm 26 years old, I have a full time job with benefits and I've saved $20,000. The only thing is, my parents don't want me to move out. My family is Filipino and in the Philippines, it's normal for adult children to live with their parents indefinitely. But I didn't grow up in the Philippines, I grew up here in the US. And I guess in America it's ideal for young adults to move out around 20 something. I want to be independent of my parents because sometimes they drive me insane. They treat me like a child all the time. Is there anything I can say to my parents that will make it easier for them to accept me moving out on my own?

Once you are gone, then will have to learn to accept it. Don't worry about trying to smooth things over, just go.

It's also a good idea to keep saving money.
