I suppose my confession would be that I find my mum's hallucinations funny. My mum doesn't do drugs, nor has she ever. She is dependent on diet coke though. She is the most stressed person I have ever met, and she is an insomniac. Well, the first time I ever encountered my mum's hallucinations was when I was only a wee one. I was in the living room with my brother and my dad. We were all watching TV, and my mum was asleep on the couch. All of a sudden my mum jerks awake into the upright position. She looks over at us, bewildered and screams "GUY!? >my father's name< WHAT'S THAT GREEN STUFF ON THE WALL?!" Of course..everyone is scared shitless by this sudden movement. Then we look around and start laughing because, obviously, there is no green stuff on the wall. We then tell her she is hallucinating and it made for a good story. Well, my mum still has these. Every once in a while, I will be watching the Late Show with David Letterman, or Conan O'Brian, and she will be sound asleep on the couch. All of a sudden she will jerk upright...and stare at you..or at the wall, or the chair. I will then ask her "whoa are you oki?" because, at first, it's startling. She wont' answer for the longest time. It's like she is in her own little world. Then, she will go up and start examining the wall, or start scratching at the chair. And finally, I will say for the 50th time "DUDE! WHAT ARE U DOING" She will then say "I'm trying to get this stain out of the couch" or "I'm watching this mouse that's comming out of the wall" Her hallucinations usually consist of green/purple gooze oozing from the walls, stains on the furniture/floor, mice comming out of the wall/spiders, and mice just in general. Sometimes she will just wake up and start stammering, or screaming my uncle's name, or mine or my brothers. Then she will say "did you um....did you...uh..did you find.....uh..did you...find my...uh..do you have...uh" and she will never say exacty what it is she is talking about. Probably because I laugh at her and tell her that she is hallucinating. One time, my mom jerked awake on the couch and stared at our cd tower. She just kept staring and finally I was like "mum, r u oki?" She then slowly turned her head my way..not saying a word. Honestly, it looked like something out of a horror film. Then, she put her hand out and did the "come here" motion with her finger, slowly. This only added to the horror movie effect. I came over and was like "what's ur deal?" she then said "shhh you'll scare it" And I asked "scare what." She then told me that I would scare "the mouse washing it's face by the cd case." I was like, "mum, there is no mouse there." and she was like "no, wait, it will come back" So, she had me standing there waiting for a mouse to come out that wasn't even real. She has had loads more. She often dreams about people murdering her or of people chasing after her in dark alley's with knives >she doesnt watch horror films< I've never heard of anyone else who does this.
its called night terrors and it is normal (I guess!). My brother does this. Once he fell asleep on the couch and I was watching tv. He jumped up and started screaming about little men trying to hurt him or some crap like that. It was very strange.
Hehehe.. funny Hey, get a cat.. that'll maybe help with the mouse stuff.. or make it more interesting
yeh i had that happen to me twice once but both times i was smoking "tobbacco", the first time i fell asleep watching star wars with a few buddies and woke up screaming!. the secound time i was at my house with a few friends and i had gone to bed any way one of them walks in and i start saying hello, hello, hello hello and so forth fairly loudly until one of my friends said "yeah hey" and i shut up then replied "arent you meant to say certain things?" oh and there was a third time i was asleep and my roomate walked in (to get to his room) and i say "friend or enemy!?" loudly and he replies "friend" so i say "you better be fucking telling the truth" and went back to sleep... so it can be kinda common, although my examples don't seem as extreme as your moms.
Yeah, it sounds alot like 'Night Terrors' I did some research on the net about them cause I thought I may be having them as well. For those of you who 'remember' on your own your 'Night Terrors' then you haven't had any. Night terrors are not something someone can remember on their own. A person who has night terrors is TOLD about their actions and what occurred. It is a form of a sleep walking type of thing in a way. Even though a person's eyes are open and they appear to be awake they are actually asleep with eyes wide open. It is also common with PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) which could be something in your mom's past about walls, and mice which in her dreams terrifies her to that point. Is it always when she is asleep on the couch when she has these Hallucinations or does it happen while she is awake as well? She probably does not even know you are laughing at her cause she is probably asleep and don't remember so I wouldn't feel too bad about laughing.
This isn't exactly the case for my mom. Eventually, she will start talking to me and then she will finally realize that it was just a hallucination and she will tell me to shut up, then she will go upstairs and go to bed. She does remember them, because the next day I will ask her about it, and she says "yea, I remember you laughign at me and i really did think i saw a mouse" I don't think she remembers all of them though. The first time I ever saw her scratching at the couch..I had no idea what she was doing. So, the next day I told her about it and asked her why she did it. She told me she thought there was a stain on it, so she was trying to get it out. No, she only has them when she is asleep, not awake.
