i'm worried though. i'm laughing at a german joke.... oh well, you'll have a french joke for the world cup... our team...

I've got a question: is that true that you guys (i mean culturally, as a nation) kinda love france...? there was a show about this on tv (you know "arte"?) about this... If so, what's so great about it?... if this is bullshit tell me... coz i find it interresting. (the question. not bull's shit)

Speaking for me, I love everybody, no matter, where she/he is coming from and until today i love every country, I visited ever. Speaking of France, since 1963 I had been more than 30 times at western france, nearby the little town Gwaien (Audierne), Breizh (Bretagne), the province is called Kernev (Finistère) and on the way to or from there I visited a lot of other places at France . arte is even here one of the best and most interesting tv-channels. Sorry, I'm not interested in soccer, thus I don't know, which teams are coming. How do you call us, while speaking with your friends, les allemandes or les boches?

okay, i think this term "boches" is rather pejorative. it's some kind of war associated term, i think we are over it by now. are we? I am. however it remains used. i know the french don't speak foreign languages. there's this dumb "proud to be french" (noting to do with nationalism) that brings the idea that our culture is so important that it should be spread all over the world, fighting equal to equal with the english egemony. so we have no need to speak english. historicaly speaking, you have to look back in the 1600's to find it true (Louis xiv and so).remember our president Mitterand? he could't speak english. what a shame!!
though, my friends and I just are slighty original: we all speak at least 3 languages, we're from a sorta "culturally high" background. I know it sounds a bit elitist, but i don't know how to say it otherwise. the fact is we know and live close to other cultures, there's an international hi school just near we live. we have pals from sweden, germany, england, spain...

If you want to eat someplace in france, tell me. (snails is "escargots" , frog legs is "cuisses de grenouilles").

for my part, and for my friends, i just call you "allemands" or "tu as vu cette jolie blonde avec ses grosses choppes de biére?". that's better.

i know this thread is a bit dumb. but you know... i'm french

PS: i don't care about soccer either. but if it's a good reason to visit berlin, köln or munich, it's enough for me.
