I sprouted 2 seeds from the paper towel method and planted them both in a 5 gal. bucket 3/4 soil and 1/4 steer manuer. They are both on a nice start with 6 bright green little leaves on each. one took off and the other is trying to catch up, but they look fine so far. I planted them about 6 days ago, and i actually forgot about them for a couple days, thats when we thought they were dead. but to our surprise they shot off without any water. now we're feeding them about a cup of water evey day, think this is enough?
we also knocked several holes in the bottom and side of the bucket for good drainage. well thats about it, do you guys think this soil and 2 plants in one bucket safe? i'll need all the help i can get. thanks guys.

    I'm getting some pics tomorrow.

Sounds like you have a good start. Just water thoroughly and then when it needs it. With big containers it might be once a week or longer. It helps to have the roots completely use the soil. You should use separate containers btw. But if you are just screwing around - there is no prob. Good thinking on the drainage holes.

Good Luck and Green Thumbs my man!!

i guess i can't get any pics yet because someone supposedly stole my camera out of my friends car. so im working on that.
also, there are what looks like hundreds of tiny black bugs crawling around in the manure. think this is bad for the plants?

I think any bugs other than maybe earth worms in your soil is bad.

ok I've got some pics of the babies now. its been 3 weeks now and they're only a few inches tall so far. I think they're stretching a little too much and have a few small orange/yellow spots, probably due to my shitty soil. no pun intended.
I think it might be Ph deficient. Tell me what you guys think if you can even see it clearly.

    2 things id do different:

    1) each sprout should have its own containers, or theyll kill eachother for supremacy of rootspace

    2) start with smaller containers of 1 or less gallons until you have 1/2 foot or so.

I guess an update is due.

They are looking green and healthy. But they are each growing very differently. I believe one is a male but I can't really tell just yet, but it's already forming thick white hairs at the nodes, but no sacks yet. and it's growing faster than the other. The other one is growing pretty slow but it smells like skunk already, and no signs of hairs or sacks on the nodes yet, just leaves which I hope is a female.

    Planted on May 1st.
    6th week.

    Possible male:

    Both:

and don't forget the guard dogs:

Don't fuck with that chihuahua or he'll bite your toes off. lol

Also, I've seen some very small webs around the stem and bottom nodes. spider mites, I believe. I killed a couple with my fingers and removed the webs but I don't know what good that would do.

Not a bad start homie, I hope it gives you something nice! Next time add some perlite to your soil, it looks to dense now, with more airyness (spl?) to the soil youll get much quicker growth.

    Peace....

Thanks man. yea it is pretty dense but i am still able to push through it with my pinky finger with little effort. I noticed when I water it on a dirt mound to where it's tipped a little, it drains out of the bottom of the bucket in about 5 seconds. which surprised me because I didn't think it would drain all the way through the manure.

    Due for an update.

The male is gone so she gets the whole bucket. She looks healthy and green, with a fatty stem. Today is her 8th week.
I hope it wont effect her growth with her position in the bucket.

There you go dude, good job! Make a few hole in that bucket so you can get drainage and prevent mold/ root rot. Think about cloning and Maybe right now get it into more light.. Try not to shift its lighting backwards if your moving it around unless you want to.. Meaning if you let it grow in a location and move it to get less light youll trigger flowering even outdoors. You might not have changed over all light but direct light. So the plant will notice the difference anyways. Doing this to often on a mobile plant can cause hermorphidizm.. < I didnt spell it right you understand.

thanks for the tip. i drilled about 6 holes on the bottom and it drains pretty good. think i should drill a few on the bottom sides?
and the only times we need to move it is when there are people around next door, which is like once a week. so thanks for the tip, we'll try to find a better place to put it so we're not so paranoid.
oh by the way, she smells like a skunk sprayed itself then shit all over the place. I hope its a good strain xD

i'm finding various bugs on her like really small spiders that make really tiny webs around it and some other crazy looking bugs. i don't see any signs of them eater her so I guess these aren't the bad kind. what are your methods of keeping the unwanted pests away?

well outdoors? it depends on if the plants are worth it. Ive gone as far as "house and garden Raid" for pesty spider mites. But outdoors your trying to win a losing battle sometimes.
    • Because the environment for indoor growing is perfectly suited for a rapid reproduction of bugs, it is important that you have some descent knowledge about them. This way you can recognize a plague in an early stage, and can prevent a lot of damage. Fast response is very important!!Preventive intervenewith natural predators is the best, if not the only way to protect your sweeties.
    • There are a lot of chemical products on the market, but this is for indoor use NOT advisable, because you mostly also live and sleep in the same house!
    • These chemical products are only for use outdoor, they have a long lifetime and certainly not for use on our smoking-weed!!! We can't warn you enough that unsafe use of any of these products can be dangerous to your, our your relatives health.
    • An alternative is using home made brews from soap, garlic etc. this may slow down sometimes the plagues, but mostly the bugs will be resistant.
    • \some product that are far more efficient but still are 100% biologic, non-toxic to human or plants and have a short lifetime. These products are:

      1. Bio-best spray. available in concentrate or ready to use spray can. This originally was developed for consumer products like fruits and vegetables.
      2. Sticky plates. These are your alarm system for detecting the presence of damaging insects. Almost any insects are attracted to the yellow color of the sticky plates, and the glue on it will keep them stuck on the plates. The plates not only warn you for the presence of harmful insects, but also catch a considerable amount of the population. In this way you can control the plague more.
      3. Plantprotector. This stuff leaves an sorta natural acid on the leaves when you spray it. Bugs hate it and will go away.
      4. Neem-oil. Probably the best one.It is made from the "neem-tree" It works against more than 200 different insects. It destroys the central nerve system off the buggs. When you spray it, it will leave a sorta "wax-layer" on the leaves, this will stay for about 2-3 weeks.
    You can also use beneficials.

Beneficials are small animals which eat and live from the crop damaging insects. Beneficials are completely harmless for mankind, other animals or cultures and can not become plague. Beneficials are introduced in your room when the first damaging insects or the first damage are observed.(yellow leaves, webs, wilted leaves) BIOBEST benificials have a double action because they control both the adult pest insects as their eggs and larvae.
A few bugs and their natural predators are:
