HI all! Just came back from FLA and spent most of my time barefoot. My in-laws are very prudish about me being bf and usually give me socks at the front door for me to put on, which I decline. What I did barefoot: - drove everywhere - went to dinner @ Whiskey Creek Steakhouse - filled up with gasoline (had to prepay so I walked into the store from the pumps, great dirty soles!) - bought liquor from the ABC 3x - went into Walmart in Port Charlotte (saw another bf guy there as well!) no one stopped us! - played mini-golf with the kids - flew on the plane - walked around Pearson Airport after Customs Had a great time...!
I thought your story was going to be about going on vacation to go to Walmart specifically. I was wondering what was so great about Florida's wallyworlds that you had to travel all the way down from Canada to see one. Awesome that you didn't get harassed though! The restaurants around here would never allow it.
Good to know that there are areas of the country that are barefoot-friendly, and it doesn't surprise me that Florida is one of them. It really doesn't surprise me considering that Florida has warm weather almost year-round.
Sounds kinda dumb to pump gas barefoot to me. You love your feet THAT much, that you'll go trudging around in toxic volitile petrolium waste of various types, not to mention antifreeze and all the OTHER toxic things on the ground there. Though I can't imagine that the airport could say a word if you didn't have shoes to take off... I mean which is it, you want me wearing shoes or not?
I think that refusing an offer of socks in what was probably intended as a gracious, if blunt request to cover your feet might not be taken as you might expect or like. I think that if someone is on their own property they have every right to be "prudish" and might actually reflect well on you to accept the pointed offer of socks in the same spirit of tolerance that you might yourself celebrate if extended in deference to your choice to experience the world with bare feet... as you may well have experienced... Don't assume that you were able to "sneak by". How someone handles conflicts others have with their decisions generally seen as out of the ordinary can go a very long way toward fostering tolerance.. or at very least not create the kinds of conflicts with their words and behavior when confronted which will inspire more than a few to be pricks instead of smiling to themselves and pretend they didn't see anything- because their encounters with bare footers tended to be positive. Just some food for thought.
I live in FL so it is pretty common to see alot of people going barefoot pretty much everywhere. Some stores won't let you in though.
That is because there is nothing but red necks that live in most parts of Florida, I unfortunately have grown up around it. I wear sandals everywhere, I would never go barefoot because I hate it when my feet get dirty and I might step on some glass. Not to mention the pavement is hot as fuck in the day time, how do you do it?
I'll wade barefoot through a creek on my land, but It's gotta be dangerous to do it in populated areas. It's dangrous to do it in nature. I tried it though. I'm too busy wathching where I'm walking to enjoy nature.
I barefoot some places, but most days I'm just really not in the mood to go lookin' for a fight, so I put my flats on and just deal with it.
I think barefoot in walmart is socially acceptable now. Its time we tackle shirtlessness and womens right to be shirtlessness now. And creekbeds hurt very bad. Broken hood trash or not, it would behoove anyone toi wear sandals at least
