So yeah, my dog has been pooping liquid poo all week long. So after having a nice friday night, I woke up this morning and found lots of blood, lots. I knew it was my dog but not from where it was bleeding. So cleaned it up and I had to leave at 8:30 anyway, with the rest of my family except my dad. Back home, she's still bleeding like crazy, I can't even believe that she's got energy to move around.

Why is this pissing me off? Because my dad won't do shit, and it's not the first time. It all started when my dog's left eye started to get purple, he went to the vet, the vet told my dad to go see another vet, and the other vet told us that there's nothing they can do except to remove the eye. But we decided not to because just paying the vets for telling us that they can't do a thing was enough. Now my dog's eye is black and she can't see from that one.

That was a few years ago, now last summer we moved into a new house, we have a concrete porch infront. So in the summer we let the dog outside on the porch because the backyard doesn't have a fence yet. I quickly realised that the concrete was scratching my dog's skin, enough to bleed. I told my parents NOT to put the dog on the porch, but they wouldn't listen. I bought a carpet but sometimes my dog would lie next to it and not on it. Each time I brought her inside my parents immidietly put her outside on the porch. Because of that, she was huge bumps on her legs, they look like cancer tumors, but they're getting smaller nowadays so I guess they were some kind of infections. My dad didn't go to the vet to get it checked out. He didn't event go to the yearly checkup he was suposed to go.

Today she's bleeding from her nose like if she's gonna die the next day, I hope it will stop by tomorow, and if it doesn't I hope that my parents bring her to the vet.

I think that my parents are like that because they were raised at a farm, thus animals aren't 100% friends, they just live, eat and die.

Her name is Kala, german shepherd, 7 years old. :(

I'm not sure if any of this made sense, I'm typing whatever is poping in my head.

EDIT: There's a pic of her in my gallery.

you should get her checked out as soon as possible
a dog bleeding from it's nose just doesn't sound right to me :/
if they won't do anything you should try and getting another
    family member to bring you

Hmmm let's see, I have some, not a lot family members in downtown montreal, pretty far. And the rest are in Poland.
I could ask a family friend but my parents will know and they'll refuse to let the dog go with whatever friend. Plus I'll be stuck with a bill I won't be able to pay.
    Her water is red :(

    for not doing anything :/

    best wishes to her...

Yeah I agree. I told them a million times to go to the vet and get it checked out, but no when she's hurt they decide to give her a god damn aspirin. I'm not implying that they should go for every single event, but this a series of events that are kind of serious. Blood is life. Their problem is probably explained by their farm thing. If the bleeding won't stop by tomorow I'll try to enforce something, ugh.

I have no idea how much the bill will be, but to give you an idea, for the eye thing, the first vet charged us like 100-200$ I think, just to say that we must see another vet, who charged us too.

I am pretty sure that would be considered animal cruelty, definately neglect. Therefore it is totally illegal. Just inform your parents if someone knows they are with holding veternarian care, they are breaking the law and facing potental fines. Would they rather pay court costs, or vet care?

The law doesn't force you to spend money on vets.

But bleeding nose? The runs? Your dog is doing too much coke cut with baby laxatives.

Gosh, this sounds bad. I have years of experience with animals and have read numerous books through the years on animal health. I wanted to be a veterinarian (yrs ago), plus, my family rarely could afford vet bills, so I learned to become real good with self-diagnosing our pets ... but in this case with your dog, I cant think of anything it might be. I'll try to help a little by coming up with some questions that will help with his diagnosis. Try to be sure of everything ...

Are you sure the blood is coming from her nose, and not from inside the mouth? If it is indeed the nose, is the blood coming from just one nostril, or both?

Is there blood in the stool? (if the stool is very dark, tarry, black etc... that can also be signs of blood in it)

How long ago did the dog have the eye problems? (not sure if thats related or not, but still worth considering) The first vet that recommended a second opinion.. did he suggest ANYTHING, any possibilities at all? Damn they should have told yall something if they were going to charge that much.

Does your dog have any of these other symptoms?: Weakness, rapid or weak pulse, coughing blood, blood in urine, pale gums, collapsing?

I'm running some searches on google, trying to find some of the symptoms you've described about the bleeding. what I'm coming up with so far, is that it sounds similar to an internal bleeding, which isnt good Im sad to say. If anything, try to keep him warm and quiet as possible.

Here are some things I found on google..

    Dog Nosebleeds
Q: DEAR DR. MIKE: Maggie, a nine year old part german shepherd and wolf, is suffering from nose bleeds sometimes when someone walks by the house and even when she is sound asleep. Maggie has had Xrays, scope and a biopsy - all results were negative. Maggie is on 1000 mg vitamin C and horsetail (homeopathic remedy). There seems no explanation as to why these nose bleeds occur. She is happy, alert and eats real well. Can you suggest any cause for these nose bleeds. Any help would be appreciated. Carol

A: Carol- Nosebleeds can occur for a lot of reasons. In older dogs a major concern would be nasal tumors or nasal infections. Tumors can be pretty hard to find even with endoscopy and X-rays in some cases but the tests for this make it less likely. In any age dog bleeding disorders need to be considered when nosebleeds occur. Ehrlichia canis, immune mediated thrombocytopenia, immune mediated hemolytic anemia and other causes of bleeding should all be considered. In older dogs a fairly common cause of bleeding disorders is hemangiosarcoma, a type of tumor. Heartworms can cause nosebleeds in the later stages of the disease. Sorting through all these possibilities will require additional testing. It can be difficult and take several tries to identify the cause of bleeding disorders.

    Bleeding Nostril
Question: My dog is bleeding heavily from one nostril. Do you think he has high blood pressure. How do I measure blood pressure on a dog. Can I use a regular adult blood pressure culf and if so where do I apply it?

Answer: The only safe, effective way to stop the bleeding is to apply pressure on the end of the nose with a towel. I have found that Ice often works. Keep your dog quiet, and not moving. To assess for shock, check to see if the gums are pale. This may be from high blood pressure, although that is unlikely. More common causes are infections ( ie tooth root abscesses, or nasal fungal infections) or bleeding tumors, which we usually don't expect unti; a dog is older.
You need to be visiting your Veterinarian ASAP!!

    ----------------------

Does your dog stay in the yard, or is there any possible way it may have gotten hit by a car?

Another thing... has it eaten any sharp objects (bones, etc) that you know of?
Has it been on a heartworm preventative at all, I know you said it didnt get to the vet for its last checkup or something..... but when was the last time he did go to the vet, and was he tested for heartworms? And was he on a heartworm preventative (if so, how long ago was the last time he was given it?)

This is all I can come up with for now. I know its not of much help. But your parents need to know that it is very serious. Maybe they arent paying attention and dont realize how serious it is.

I feel so bad for you and your dog. I know the pain of losing pets in the past, due to inability to get it to the vet, or unable to afford vet bills. I know the frustration of not being able to provide proper routine health care for my animals..... and worst of all, I know how helpless you must feel. I hope your parents grow a heart soon and get that dog to the vet.
    Keep us informed.

Sending peace your way, ::: HUGS ::::

    Thanks a ton!!

My dog is calm now, lying down, so now her blood pressure is lower and the bleeding stopped, but I know that it will start again as soon she will want to go out.

To answer your questions, I'm pretty sure it's from the nose, she keeps licking her nose, sneezes blood, etc. And when I examined it appeared to be from one nostril. Oh yes, when I took a walk outside with her she did a very dark stool in the MIDDLE of the street (usualy she never does that), but I think that it's because she keeps licking/drinking her blood.

The eye thing was a few years ago I think, not sure exactly when. Other than that she doesn't seem to be weak at all.

Since we moved she wasn't very often in the yard, in our previous house she was. I'm pretty sure that she wasn't hit by a car, she's always on a leach (sp?) when outside (if not in the yard).

My dog eats bones regularly, since years.
I can't even remember last time she went to the vet, cuz usualy I'm at school when my dad goes, so it's not clear. I'll ask my father later about the heartworms.

This brings back bad memories, when my aprents were mistreating her. Like when she was barking excessively my dad put the chocker type of thing and pulled her up for a seriously long time in my opinion. My mom pulling her neck skin hard, dog whinning in pain :(. But they don't that anymore, sort of listened to me. My rents suck at family animals. Hahah, even with me when I was younger my mom used to pull my hair hard, or even kick me. Then around 4th grade I think, not sure when exactly, I had fake suicide thoughts. My mom brought my to a psychatrist, I didn't say much, but my mom talked a while with her, till she realized that she was the problem, not me. Ever since she was respectable to me.
