if anyone didnt know, i work at a craftstore, www.craftwarehouse.com, and im the yarn department manager there. well... today i taught a "Learn the Knit Class". my very first class... i was stoked! it was $10, and they received a pair of knitting needles, a skein of yarn, and full instructions to make a scarf using the garter stitch method. there were 6 slots, and 4 came. i wasnt nervous, im used to being infront of groups and such.. took speech and was in drama in HighSchool. all ladies, 3 were probably early 30, and one was in upper 40. she was the most troubled. which is understandable. the older you get, the harder it is to pick up something new. but it was just such a great feeling knowing that i was actually teaching a class. im hoping to start teaching classes more.. maybe once a month, with various projects.. ponchos, bags, etc.... i think its great that people are willing to learn various crafts, and are enthused about it. i love everything to do with crafts, and have been doing them since i was teeny-tiny. just thought i would share with the rest of you
that's totally cool...... good for you dude!! sounds like fun! i met this really sweet old lady in a convenience store once and we got to talking, and she invited me to her knitting circle every wednesday night. i kind of thought it would be lame at first, but i ended up going anyhow and it turned out to be a lot of fun. at the time, i hadn't seen my mom or any family in a long time, and the whole bevy of powdered old ladies ended up being my substitute grannies in the middle of otherwise chaotic weeks. we had a blast, and my knitting rocked. peace, sophia
How fun! I bet you are a great teacher. I want to open up my own studio and teach pottery some time in the future. I love teaching people new things. What a fun job you have.
haha!! that was a good one! i think that would be bitchen to make my own brew! i just wouldnt want it to turn out shitty, cause i hate wasting beer
tht would be so awsome of you to do! if i lived closer i would definatly come and take some lessons. ive thrown clay in my HighSchool art class.. they had two wheels for advanced art students to use. we had awsome glazes and crystals! i made so many bowls and cups i would love to do it again!
My boyfriend tried to make his own beer once, That shit was SOOOOOOOOOO GROSS, it tasted like liquid bread. It was so nasty. The closest we get to that now is just kegs! lol We're in the process of making a mini "kegerator" drilling a hole through a mini fridge for the tap, poppin in a pony keg, and voila- instant beer at your fingertips. Congrats on the class. Sounds like alot of fun.
