Alright, she's a bit of a ditz as to her own body. We grew up so conservative that she found out where babies came from at age 20, 3 weeks before her wedding day. I was talking to her the other day, and she mentioned that she recently stopped taking the Pill because she and her husband weren't opposed to kids, then in the same breath wondered why her cycle hadn't come for 2 months. I know that coming off the Pill can screw the hormones, but the conversation went something like this:

So go take a test. Go to the doctor. Get checked and stop worrying.
    "I don't think I'm pregnant, I haven't been throwing up."
Not everyone does. Have you used any other protections?
"We tried a condom, but that didn't work out too well."
    Uh-huh.
    "I took 2 tests, they said I wasn't."
    What kinds?
"The little dollar ones from RiteAid."
    Wrong. Go to the doctor.
"I'm too tired these days, I'm always tired."
    DOCTOR! NOW! NOWNOWNOW!

So. I'm getting excited, if only to piss her off. My husband's dancing around singing "Bugg's got a stowaway! I'm gonna be an uncle!" OH, she's mad at us!

She's not pregnant. And I had ideas, too! But I showed a few of them to her, and I have permission to make them before she has one so the stuffed Cthulhu and quilt of dragons are ready in time. :)

it's so exciting! my sister's pregnant! she's about 3 months. i talk to her belly whenever i see her. she lives almost 2 hours away now so i don't get to see her as often. i spent hours with her everyday during her last pregnancy; i got to see her belly grow. but we didn't get to watch her son grow up. he was 2 months premature due to complications and he fought hard to survive but his lungs weren't developed enough. so with this pregnancy we're cautious and vigilant but more excited then ever!

Actually, she's Illinoisan. Dad (trucker, wasn't around for our puberties) was horrified to learn that Mom was "saving it for her wedding day." A huge fight came from that. And Mom was still in shock: she tried to give me the talk the same day all this was going on. I was 23, engaged myself, and had been active for three years. We both found out that I knew more than she did.

Oh, I laughed my ass off! And I sent Kid Sister info on Natural Family Planning (temps, fluids, cervix, charts...), she liked it. We're officially in a race to see who can breed last.

    Anyway, congrats to WednesdayAfternoon's sister!

yeah, you might be surprise, how many boys and girls in their teens and twenties don't know shit about "the birds and bees."
i knew one girl who tried to press rape charges aganist a friend of mine because he kissed her.
her parents and church taught her that, letting a boy kiss a girl is, how girls get pregnant.

needless to say, the police, medical staff, district attorney or, grand jury do a thing about her claim of rape.
it is just disgusting and sad that, some parents and religions instill this kind of ignorance and stupidity to their childern!

Update: Kid sister's NOT pregnant, but we just got word that my husband's cousin is 8 months along. So, yeah, more baby blankets!

She herself found out a month ago. She had NO symptoms of pregnancy: no missed cycles, no morning sickness, and just enough weight gain to make her tiny little frame look like she finally started to eat something. She had absolutely no reason to suspect a pregnancy, especially since she wasn't sexually active anymore (kicked her skeezy boyfriend out about 7 months earlier...).

She was lying on the sofa, and felt something move in her stomach. Thinking she had an ulcer, she went to the doctor, and found herself in the third trimester. OOPS! I saw her 2 days after she had found out and she didn't look pregnant at all, just a little healthier. OMFG, this is exciting! She's moved back in with her dad, who is ecstatic to be suddenly a granddaddy. Her stepsister's baby just grew out of a mountain of baby gear, so the kid's taken care of.

Hubby's family is all about kids, it's just amazing. You're not a real man there if you don't squee over babies as much as the women do. The cousin's getting over the shock, so now her incoming son is the BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER! We're all in mad dashes to spoil the baby now...
