I think the internet itself is "the new world". I think the internet has transformed human beings (for the worst). I think the internet has given people a door to "freedom" .. I think people are too free with their incivility. I think incivility makes any country a 3rd world country. I think the internet is interactive TV. I think I've had enough with the few people around here who have a problem with me. I don't harass any of you so FUCK OFF.
At any rate, I hope you feel better tomorrow or later today, Gina.... I guess those f off words hurt, too, and I have no idea who you are talking to....I am not going to say them to anyone anymore. Words do hurt. They hurt me just hearing them sometimes, even if not intended for me. I grew up with alot of violent language and it did not make me immune by any means....if anything, I am more sensitive....so I hope whoever is bothering you leaves you alone.
I do think there is a lot of intolerance here for people with different views and opinions, but you can't make people not be assholes. The only solution is to stop coming here if the people here bother you so much. You're not going to change people's ways, and you're certainly not going to solve anything with a thread like this.
Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me Gats and guns may put holes in my lungs, but they will never kill me, how could I be dead when I am whole?
The internet is the absolute toilet of humanity, but... - I grew up in a world where some books and materials had to be shipped on loan agreements and insured; with internet, I access libraries on the other side of the world instantly. - People had to have large and largely redundant medical libraries of their own in hardcopy; with internet, scientific, chemical, consulting, diagnostic databases and tools are in a phone. The only thing they don't do is sonogram, defibrellate and spit drugs - but they will provide at least one direct therapy soon. - We wrote hardcopy packets of papers, images to collaborate and shipped them fed-ex. Now, we can share files instantly and get "dream" consultations with people tops in their fields instantly. - Shopping? Don't get me started ~ So while I agree, we said it was "the beast" that would "destroy the world", it is the nastiest thing ever on earth, bringing every abomination to everybody's big screen - I have tried to get some use out of it. If giving it up would make a difference I would say yes. Used to love getting packages "from Egypt" anyway.....
I tend to swear a lot even in real life.. maybe even more IRL. I guess it's a bad habit but no one ever says anything really. I find most of my friends swear a lot. It's just words, a language. I can speak two languages so I should be able to swear too =p But I don't mean much by it. Words do not hurt me, it's hard to really hurt me, I've been hardened in life I mean the only way I'm offended is if you really put down my family or my beautiful partner or maybe my country. I think ignorance is offensive but I'm ignorant myself so I can't say much. I'm also hypocritical. I don't care. If anybody has a problem with me then they're spending waaaay too much time dealing with somebody elses burden and they should spend more time dealing with more important things than what I have to say online.
Back when second life first started getting attention, I thought that was where the net was headed, we'd all be sitting in rooms with 3d projectors by now, living in a virtual world. But no, twitter of all things seems to rule supreme, dull old rss feeds
Wow I just learned something about you, Glen. You type capital letters on evvverrrryyyy siiiiiinnnnggglllleeee wooooooooorrrrddd and I thought maybe that was out of habit. But you just clearly illüstrated that you can in fact type like a normal human being. Fascinating. :xmasnut:
It's a great tool but people think their behaviors and attitudes don't matter ("it's just the internet"). One of the YouTube channels I subscribe to turned into a cyber war. Keyword, war (not cyber). It had real impact.
