what's it smell like? like woodsy or lightly floral-y? i might buy some but what if i don't like it? then i've just got some sticks just lying around...
It's hard to describe the smell. Kind of sweet and spicy. Fortunately, incense doesn't cost very much, so if you don't like it you can either throw it out or give it to a friend.
yea, i dont' like it at all. i really dont' like burning incense anywyas...kinda makes me a bit sick. but it is cheap, so was really no loss.
good point. does anyone know if i can get it in spencers or where? i've really only seen it online...
i dont like nag champa as much as most "hippies" do, but then i also don't like patchouli or patchwork shorts or birkenstocks.... anyway, i think that there are some better insences out there. i rarely buy it anymore because it may be cheap, but its an extra expense i don't really need and money is tight occasionally. i do remember liking bharath darshan a lot more than nag champa....another really strong aroma, but more floral and soapy...something i usually put out halfway through if i'm burning it indoors. http://www.incenseguru.com/bharat_darshan.html green mogra is another i used to buy often: http://www.incenseguru.com/puspa_green_mogra.html generally though i prefer the subtler japanese incense called "koh" to the typical indian incense sticks. at least for indoor use....morning star is common to see and decent quality. i usually get the amber or aloeswood. http://www.incenseguru.com/ has a good selection of lots of types of incense, and very reasonable pricing. try a few. or if you'd rather not pay for shipping try gift and novelty shops, ethnic groceries, smoke shops, headshops, sex shops, even liquor stores and gas stations sometimes have incense. look around, and if you cant find any in stores then try online or "hippy" type festivals or other events.
and remember premium incense generally, not always but generally, is FAR superior to the acrid stuff sold by the stick or small packs in many shops...either no brand name, or the stuff like gonesh and other common brands....these sticks are generally 100% identical with the exception of the oil added to the sticks. differences in the smells are hard to notice often, and the smoke is rather hard to be around without opening a lot of windows. most good incense will have different substances composing the stick in order to change the smell, not simply different oil added to a sandalwood/benzoin base.
hehehe...that would be why almost everyone loves it. i burn patchouli more than "the nag" and my parents HATE it. i love it tho..so i continue burning my incense and zoning out to all the little dots on my bedroom ceiling.. =]
The only time I really burnt a lot of incense was when we had a trippy light machine on shrooms and we got the room all dark, and we would play with the incense smoke in it. Other than that... I burn incense once in a long while, usually when I go outside to smoke and forget to close the house door which makes the entire house smell like cancer. Incense does give me a damn headache though. And both Nag Champa, and Petculli suck as it is.
i like some incense, but some of them can give me a headache or make my stomach feel sick. but i like nag champa
it smells fucking good. ever since i can remember my mother ALWAYS had some burning in our house at all times. now once in awhile ill smell it while im in a smokeshop or at a concert somewhere and the smell instantly reminds me of when i was a little kid and lived with my mother. it makes me happeeeee
