Greetings all, I was reading through the threds here for birth control and did a search and it seems that you all have not been exposed or you just have not talked about natural methods like Cycle Beads. Natural in this case means no chemicals in the lady's bodies. Cycle Beads are a color-coded string necklace (sort of) of beads that are plastic, with a ring you move along the string to represent each day of your cycle. We are only fertile about 5 days or less (that is when the egg is released and waiting) a month ladies so why should we be on chemicals all month long when it is guys that are fertile all month long??? I have been useing Cycle Beads to keep track of my fertile time over a year with no pregnancies and lots of skin to skin. My hubby and I only use condoms during my fertile period if we want to get to it during that window, the rest of the time its just me and him. You can also choose to not have sex during that time and just wait till you are safe again. That is safe to not get PG, this does not protect you from STDs and such. Now the Cycle Beads work best for ladies with a regular cycle every month that is 26 to 32 days long between each period. Even though we are only fertile for less than a week the fertile window or period is about 12 days. Do to our fertile times releacing and changing slightly each month by only a day or two & the men's sperm being able to live longer if they get to swim around in our Cervical Fluid(clear to creamy wetness) before our eggs reless helping them to live longer so they have a chance at our eggs. This is very general an if you would like to learn more check out this website: www.cyclebeads.com & the book "Your Fertility Signals" by Merryl Winstein; which can be found in some libraries or amazon.com For those with iregular or shorter cycles there are other methods like the ovulation and temp checks and tracking. These really work!! Now Cycle Beads and the other two I just menchend can be used to aviod or get PG, its up to you and it does take some responsability. I know what the stats out there given by Doctors and clinics, but these same doctors are being basicly paid to push or incurage the chemicals rather that inexpensive comdoms or one time buy or training tracking methods like Cycle Beads and Ovulation Method. Oh, and I have not been paid to share this. I am just sensitive to Chemicals and like to share things that can help keep me and others out of the Doctors office when we're not sick. All I ask is you take a look. Hope this is helpful to some of you. Peace, Clove P.S. sorry this post is so long. Clove
my period is hella irregular.. but thanks for the info! I really dont like the bc pills because I find they have so many different side effects... but ya know...
Oh! and by the way, that book I menchen above it about ovulation and temp Methods. As well as how women's fertility works. Its one of the easier books to read on the subject. Very informitive just easier to read. But if you would like a more detailed read check out "Taking Charge of your Fertility: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health" Revised Edition by Toni Weschler, MPH This one covers every thing you might want to know about natural methods and chemical testing/ medical procidure(sp?), and so on... Anyway, your welcome~ May Aizelle. and good luck. Peace, Clove
What about herbs that control fertility? I think I read once where Native women living in the rockies used to make a tea from a certain plant to control their fertility. Anyone know which herbs are effective?
I would be very very cautious to anyone trying the beads - you will have to have a really regular period for them to work - even then they wont work 100 % so please be very very careful. Its a great idea not to pump chemicals into our bodys etc but then you have to know your body 110% - be careful
There is a series of books writen by Susan S. Weed called: Wise Woman Herbals which I beleive has infromation on herbs and plants for womens conserns such as this. One in particular "the Childbearing Year," has a lot of herbal mixers, tenchers and teas that help before, during, and after. I do beleive this as information on herbs that help prevent Pregnancy as well. She does have a website but I do not know it's address. I would like to know why we should be "very very cautious" about natural methods, shouldn't we be more cautious about blood clots, cancers and infertility just to name a few caused by chemical birth controls. I personally want to know and be in control of my body. I do not want to leave it up to anyone else or anything else for what goes in my body. With chemicals you can never be sure as far as I can tell. you may not get pregnant but you do not know for sure what else ou might get because of it. I personally feel that insted of blindly trusting doctors and chemicals women need to learn how their bodies work. We need to know so we can make the best choices for our selves. The tracking methods not only help us prevent or get pregnant, they also help us be aware when we are healthy or if are bodies are out of balance/unhealthy so we can get help right away. Also it can help with planing our schedules once we know when we're going to be moody or indisposed we can schedule or avoid situations during that time period or around it so we are at our best to get what we need done. Like a vacation could be scheduled at a better time that we could enjoy insted of being surprised and not be able to go hiking or swiming do to not knowing your cycle. Or schedule your big get away with your guy for when your not fertile so you have no worries to be conerned about. Just some things to think about. This really should be part of our basic education, the only reason it is not is because of faith based beliefs influence on are education systems and government. These methods are just as reliable as chemical birth controls, but with none of the risks and if you have not look in to this and you want to make comments that are nagetive I have to ask if your fearful or just lazy. (I mean any one who comments after this post) I understand about just not knowing whats out there, after all I really had to search hard and for some time before I could find unbiase and accurate info. Doesn't that make you wonder why it would be so covered up? Do what is right for your self what ever method or chemical you choose just make sure you know all the risks and all options. Oh, and one last thought: What would you do if some thing happen that made it so that there was no chemical birth controls were available? then what would you do? That is what I thought about at one piont. On top of my other concerns. Peace, Clove
there is a "Male" bc pill also.. Its called "neem" and you can pick it up at any natural type store... I been using it for about 3 years now.. No side effect either and its about $8 bucks a bottle ( 2 bottles per month).. It isn't tested or approved by the USDA but It's been tested overseas (don't recall where now) and I can attest that it works... forgot a very important thing.. These should be taken for at least a month before you go bareback
I am going to start this next month. The birth control pill gave me cervical cancer, so I can not use anything with hormones, but I do not want a lil me.
