Ignore the dandruff, its gone insane right now due to the Dr. Bronners.
Damn the apparent balding patches on top too. I still can't figure out if I am thinning or not.

But anyway, underneath this lot there is one lock forming which is nicely entwined. There are loose hairs wrapping themselves around it, and some nice and tight spiral things going on, all twisted together to make a very weaved new lock, but you can't see it in the picture as it is buried underneath. Its similar to the root on the one at the front of my head, but it is like that all the way down. I'm pleased so far. Its been 27 days now.

I do not wool rub, I didn't backcomb, in fact I have literally just left it alone, using a sea salt spray about once a day.

    Hello mate,

Yes I'm diluting it. I put one squirt into a bottle of water, with about 250-400 millilitres of water I guess. Then I pour it over my hair bit by bit and perhaps wash it twice in one go. Usually I wash it just once in the shower though, and that is about once every 3 days. So about 2-3 times per week.

I use the Lavender liquid soap, and also the almond liquid soap.

Ok, thanks for the tip. The only concern I have, is that I do not want to scrub my scalp good for fear of loosening my hair. I'm as gentle as I can be when I wash it, preferring to push the soap into my hair and squeezing it in, very loosely and lightly massaging my scalp.

But thanks again for the tip. I may be braver and actually scrub my scalp good just once and see what happens.

dont be afraid of a proper scrub! its may loosen the hair a bit but it will soon re tighten!

dont put so much salt in your hair!!! that will definitely dry out your scalp and make your dandruff worse.

as others above mentioned... the salt is probably contributing to the dandruff.... it's an unnecessary step.

...and for your sake, try an acv rinse. Smells like hell while you're doing it, but once you rinse it out and let it dry the smell disappears and it'll help clear up the dandruff. It really helps deep clean the scalp. If you don't know what an acv rinse is or how to do it I can explain better. When I first let my hair go I did an acv rinse once a month because my scalp was still adjusting to my no longer combing and had more residue than usual. After awhile the scalp will get used to the lack of combing and "behave" the way it did pre-dreads.

Thank you all. When should I start using the sea salt spray? When they tighten and shrink more? Or even never?

Is an acv rinse something you buy over the counter? Please can somebody explain what it is? Thanks.

yeah it probably is the salt drying out your scalp thats making the dandruff. i would say, either skip the salt, or rinse it out a few hours after you use it. it might not be the salt though, my scalp doesnt mind salt at all. i rarely get dandruff in the summer when i swim in the ocean every day but i get it all the time in the winter. so you might want to try different dilutions of dr bronners, or a different soap or washing it less.
looking great though! you are going to have some sick locks, your hair is perfect for it.

It's apple cider vinegar and you can buy it at a grocery store. Just put it in a spray bottle (either straight or diluted 50/50 with water) and spray it on concentrating on the scalp area. I warn you, it will STINK, and take care not to get it near your face/eyes! Wrap your hair up in a towel and let it sit for 30-60 minutes. Rinse it out thoroughly (I like to wash my hair afterwards with shampoo to help get rid of the smell). Your hair will smell until it thoroughly dries so don't do this right before going into public :p

If you have a dry scalp I wouldn't bother with the sea salt at all. Hair dreads without it. I find that it doesn't work nearly as well as a dip in the ocean anyway.

Also during the first month or so, it takes the scalp sometime to adjust to a new shampooing schedule, esp if you used to be a daily washer before.

Time and tea tree oil on the scalp would be my two cents.

I'm also going the Neglect route. Look at my signature, I don't have time over you.
I too, was worried about loosening my hairs when washing, but as someone mentioned, it will knot again eventually.

I actually JUST gout out of the shower, and I washed this time. I used Tee Tree Oil Doc Bronners, and I gave my head the scrubbin' of it's life! I actually came out of the shower with more knots, because I rub in circles, maybe you should try that?

I use Sea Salt + Water + Lemon Juice aswell, but only once every 3 days or so.

Good luck brother, they're looking good so far!

    Namaste, John.
