    Hello,

I need a little advice on writing an Eulogy.

My boyfriend's uncle has died. He was in a 50 year relationship. Due to the Australian laws they weren't allowed to marry. In the Eulogy we state:

Our love and sympathy goes out especially to Mark, Anthoney’s Partner.

To me "Partner" just doesn't sound right when you are talking about a 50 year loving relationship. Partner sounds business like. But I am just not sure of other ways we could say it...e.g life partner, lover (they were more than that) ????.

Mark is obviously to upset to approach about this. But we want the Eulogy to be perfect....or as close as possible.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanking you
    Joanne

The tone, the feeling, of what you say will probably last longer than the words themselves... so if you say, our love and sympathy go out to Mark, who shared the intimicies of life, in all of its glory, through all of it's seasons, as love and life blossumed from the sweetness of youth till richness of maturity....I don't know. Please share my regards to all invovled, tell Mark he is loved and admired beyond what he can imagine. Steve

You might think about using the word "spouse." It's less of a loaded term to straight people than "husband," but more accurately describes the true nature of their relationship.

I can't really think of any others beside significant other, soulmate, or boyfriend, although "boyfriend" sounds quite teenager-ish.
