So my dreadies are at the 1yr mark this month. So far so good, but I am having a few issues. I started them when my hair was about 3-4" and I made them kind of thin. After a year my longest is about 6-7" and they are all about the width of a pencil. The frizz level is insane! Now I'm thinking about pairing them all up and letting them congo. I figure, they will be thicker, and there will be less "seams" b/t dreads, so less places for frizz to pop up. Has anyone else out there done this? Did you end up back in the "Sideshow Bob" phase? I'm still in the "Doyle from Bio-Dome" phase and its killing me!!! LOL
I congoed all my dreads in pairs and it worked really well. I didn't notice any sideshow bob thing going on either.
I have already tied up a few and will see how it goes. Thanks for the insight. I haven't kept many pics but here is what i have: about 1 week:
dont see thew 1 year..but frizz will nalways exist dreads will grow and make it less noticible but its still there congoews happen if u just forget to prevent them so why bother forcing em.. i havent prtevenbted congoes inm a year and 6 or so congoed into 1 all over the place but the frizz you notice more then sanyone else..ignore it frizsz at the scalp is like excuse the anology.. hair sperm it gives birth to baby dreadies as it grows ..just l.et it grow when it reaches the right lengtrh it will dread on its owwn..its a never ending process years from now your sdstill gonna have frizzies making babies think of it as an orgie on your head givin birth to a new generation of dreadies that will form all on theyre own
that made me giggle SE lol Anyways I don't see many frizzys, though I know pictures don't usually pick them up too well.
those dreads will be brutal when they get a bit of length + weight to them! Frizz won't ever go away.. however over time it will calm down
my friend has the exact same style and width as you do and his look bitchin so i wouldnt worry to much, there a lot longer than yours though, you just gotta give it time, like with everything else
yup tottally agree with the previous post they are gonna come into there own congos will form if you have the patience
I have to agree with everyone, you can only see the frizzies in the photos if you look closely. I would imagine that the only way to make them disappear would be to somehow crochet them into the dread which I'm certainly not advocating, but it could hide the frizz. Also, if you want to try just adding a bit of aloe vera to it to tame the frizzies, that works really well.
