Okay, please read through this... Last night I was going through my sons guitar case and surprisingly found 4 baggies of powder, each labelled differently. The first bag was labelled - MDMA The powder was more of a yellowish crystal. The second bag was labelled - 4 ACO DMT. It had a brown hint to it. The third bag was labelled AMT - this one seemed to reek of mothballs, with a lingering smell. The 4th bag was labelled - 2 CC This powder appeared to be white. This concerns me extremely, I knew my son privately smoked marijuana but now I have discovered a whole other world of my son. Does anybody have a clue what these drugs are? Are these addictive, and most of all what would you do in my position? After I confronted my son about this, he told me that these were safe drugs and that they are similar to LSD, which is NOT safe. Will these drugs wreak havoc on my sons brain? My son has been distant from me the past few months and this all makes sense, and I am thinking of admitting him to psychiatric help. Can anyone help, thanks!
I wouldn't rush him to psychiatric help. All those drugs are psychedelic drugs. None of them are addictive in the sense that drugs like cocaine, heroin or even alcohol are addictive but some of them can be enjoyable and can cause a desire to repeat the experience. As far as brain damage your son probably won't become a vegetable or anything like that but there may be certain changes in personality and what not. MDMA=Ecstasy 4 aco dmt= is like synthetic magic mushrooms The other two are both psychedelics as well : Amt is slightly like MDMA and 2cc is slightly like mescaline. I don't think admitting him to psychiatric help because you don't understand these substances is the right thing to do. A punishment or restriction should probably be in order though.
the only one that needs psychiatric help is you.. Taking a fit over something as simple as the drugs you described.. you should take a look at the Alexander "Sasha" Theodore Shulgin (born June 17, 1925 in Berkeley, California) is a Russian-American pharmacologist, chemist and some of the drugs developer.. The man is a genius.. Id want my kid to follow in his footsteps and be a leader in psychedelic chemistry, not some fucking dumb asshole under the bridge smoking crack.. Most them guys under the bridge had mommy interference in their life too.. go figure..
how old is your son, out of curiosity? LSD IS actually pretty safe. but the four drugs you found are not proven to be as safe as LSD. they are probably not much worse though. in my opinion, it depends on how your son is using them. if he's tripping ever week or even more often...then yes, these chems will probably "wreck havoc on his brain." probably not as bad as you or i think, and it will probably all go away with time, but it's obvious that you'd be concerned as his mother. on the other hand, if he uses them sparingly, they are likely to be pretty much harmless. read about alexander shulgin. i believe he created the 3 latter drugs on your list (as well as about 200 others) and ingested ALL of them, sometimes as often as every 3 days. he's like 70 now and in good health as far as i know.
you should actually be relieved that you found these drugs instead of coke or heroin... to quote you earlier on how you said LSD is bad - well thats casue all the negative propaganda it received from dumb idiots taking it in the wrong setting. all of these drugs are psychedelics drugs and when taken with responsibility and knowledge they can be rewarding. I know your a mom and this must be hard, but what are your views on your son smoking pot?
If he has these chems, then he's already getting some of the best psychiatric help available to humankind. No worries.
also, those are all relatively "light" psychedelics. with normal doses, all four of those can be mild trips. not to say that they can't be intense, just saying that he could have 2C-E, 2C-P (which are much more potent and "crazy"), or DPT or DMT (which are about 10 or 100 fold as intense as LSD)
i am generally in agreement with the more mild posts here. Much depends on the age of your son IMHO. Want to completely alienate him and loose any chance of real connection and deeper understanding until he is well over the age of 30? Proceed with your plan for psychiatric intervention and that will be a lock. First and foremost, in my honest and humble opinion, i feel that both you and your son are probably in desperate need of information and education. You need to LEARN THE TRUTH. NOT propaganda, not indoctrination, not scaremongering bullshit. An excellent resource for information on any drug is www.erowid.org, (including no doubt those that you are physically and psychologically addicted to). Erowid.org has accurate and update information on many, many drugs, such as alcohol, nicotine, caffeine and many prescription as well as street drugs. Admittedly, i do not know you, but i have yet to meet someone completely free of addictive behavior, once one realizes that such things as consuming socially sanctioned drugs, using the internet, gambling, sex, eating and other things can be very, very addictive. Learn about the truth and dynamics of addiction and what types of drugs and behaviors can trigger an addictive response in some (& sometimes almost all) humans. Learn the truth about psychedelic drugs and the deep, deep history of psychotropic/psychedelic plant use across human cultures for as long as human culture has existed. These drugs are now also called entheogens, which means finding the god within. They are oftentimes (even when people don't suspect this) spiritual development tools. One example of truth: LSD is not physically harmful or toxic to human beings. No LD50 has yet been discovered. Yes, they did kill an elephant by injecting it with a truly massive dose of the drug and then when it fell over in a stupor they then proceeded to inject a real cocktail of harsh drugs to try to revive the poor thing. Sure chase the most massive dose of any creatures life with what equates to a huge speed-ball and see who dies. . . . i rant and i apologize. these drugs are not addictive but they are quite mind altering and can produce rather profound and even tranforming experiences. This scares people. Understandable. Please do some research, perhaps even with your son. Please try to be open-minded when speaking with him. We are hit with a huge number of lies and propaganda in our "drug education" in America, as is being proven now by emerging studies of psychedelics and cannabis both in America and Europe. These materials have huge values to the health and well-being of humanity, regardless of what you have been told by your government, church or school. Science shows that the information/education we were given on cannabis and psychedelics was incorrect. Just one more thing, then i promise i'll STFU: i am slightly concerned that your son has chosen what are called research chemicals (tho' i use them myself . . . ). They are not proven as safe as the traditional methods, such as mushrooms (psilocybin), cactus (mescaline), ayahuasca plants mixtures (DMT with an MAOI) and good old LSD (analogs to the molecule and experience can be gained from morning glory and hawaiian baby woodrose seeds). Perhaps a good topic of discussion would be intent, traditional shamansim, and traditional paths of usage . . . Just some food for thought . . . Peace & Love, Spicey Cat Brrrrrrrp!
I agree wholeheartedly! Please, don't make a mistake here. I have gone through the wringer of the psychiatric system and even been to the "best," "state of the art" mental institute, Meninger's, in Texas. It was bad. It can help some people, that have schizophrenia maybe. Just about every psychiatric medicine has failed for me and so have the treatment places. The only thing that works for me is my medicinal marijuana and the occasional use of a psychedelic to help me escape my reality for a moment and get perspective. Don't get me wrong, I've had a great psychiatrist over the years that does therapy as well, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which is basically done when one does psychedelics. He is aware of my "drug" use. I don't use cocaine or heroine or methamphetamine or any "dirty" drugs. I wouldn't worry in your case, and would just recommend talking to him openly about it and listening to him most importantly. Don't send him away, I've been away from home for years and it only delayed my progression in life and with my family, and I have been left with PTSD and nightmares from one of the places I was sent to in Utah, which happened to be mostly run by Mormons, which also scare me... Please... Be happy he plays the guitar and knows about what substances he uses. And LSD is safe, at least for me, it hardly did anything adverse to me, and I benefited hugely from it. Psychiatric medicines have given me Irritable Bowel Syndrome which only Cannabis can relieve. None of those substances are addictive.
Here here to all of the above, for what it's worth MDMA for was truly lifechanging, AMT less so but still beneficial.
oooh mama, ur son is grow'in. remember when j wee same age. maybe??? u can only guide. try, and be real. chems he has, he has researched some.... not easy be'in parent. i know
These are not drugs like cocaine and heroin, it's important you understand that. They are not addictive and they are generally beneficial to the user if user responsibly. I would not involve any outside authority like a psychiatrist, your son may not be distant because of these substances, he may be distant for some other reason, and these substances are part of his coping strategy and may be helping him. You should discuss these with him, don't be afraid.
Okay thanks for the replies everybody. First of all he is 17 and is highly into music. I have caught him countless times with marijuana in the past but finding bags of white powders (psychedelics) is not ordinary for any teenager. I won't be sending him to the psych ward, but I cannot believe some of you are saying these drugs are good for him. How on earth could an LSD like drug be good for a 17 year old? It makes you go crazy - literally crazy. When I was a teenager I knew someone who went INSANE from doing LSD. For a long time after she thought she was a glass of orange juice, and thought she would spill over. I love my son and regardless what some drug addicts may say about their drug of choice, I know for a fact that these drugs would be detrimental to him if he kept on using them.
Then you've already made your decision. And just so you know the whole "person takes acid and thinks they're a glass of orange juice" is an urban myth . . . you and ten million other people know that person . It's never happened, and it wouldn't happen, if you would take LSD you would understand why it wouldn't happen, it just doesn't work that way at all. They don't make you go crazy. They don't induce insanity, only unsanity. A new state of mind, temporarily, of great sensitivity to things already present in reality. Do what you will, but your son is in no great danger.
hahahahahaha I'm beginning to think you are a troll. If not, then just don't pay any attention to what you remember your friend telling you. LSD will NOT make you go insane, and the whole "orange juice" thing is a classic scare tactic that we've all heard before. I can guarantee that your friend did NOT experience this. If she said she did, then it was just an exaggeration of the effects she experienced. As far as us saying that these chemicals can be beneficial......that's something you can only understand if you experience these chems, for yourself. My attempt at trying to explain the benefits of psychedelics would go as follows: They open your mind to new ways of thinking. They have been KNOWN to basically CURE depression and even post-traumatic stress disorder. They allow a person to venture into another dimension and come back completely unscathed, while having learned some very valuable lessons about themselves and how they feel about the world around them, as well as how they react to the world around them. The concept of interdimensional travel may sound absurd and/or dangerous to an outside observer, but like I said, if you wanna understand, then experience it yourself before casting judgment or jumping to conclusions before you understand the power of psychedelia. Basically, they have limitless potential to offer/provide some very beneficial perspective about life/existence/emotion/spirituality/etc. That being said, there is such a thing as abuse, regarding these chemicals, but I wouldn't jump to conclusions, because it's more likely that he only uses them on occasion and not on a strictly recreational basis. Talk to him calmly and rationally, and TRY to research these chems for yourself, whether online or through personal experience, before you react to the fact that he has been using them.
