so today i went with my friend Brandon and his girlfriend to look at an apartment about 20 minutes away from here.. the three of us are looking for a new place, because situations are starting to arise at my current apartment.. so im ready to get out of there and change life up a little bit. absolutely no hate for my current roomates whom i will be moving away from though, it ended good and i got nothing but love. its just at this point i want something a little nicer, that isnt falling apart with a bar-hag landlord who never wants to fix anything. and mostly just wanna change it up a little, yanno?

Brandon has been my best friend and partner in crime since middle school.. the most straightforward, down to earth and honest kid i've ever met, and the chillest. and his girlfriend (Rae) of a year or so now, is the third tenant.. and i know she'll be a cool roomate as well.

so anyways, this morning before i went to work, the three of us had a second appointment with the landlord (Brandon and Rae had looked at the apartment wednesday and really liked it- i was working) to look at the apartment. now its a 2 bedroom 1 bath which is fine as obviously rae and brandon share a room. it has a wooden back patio, with a nice backyard thats all ours with woods not far back.. they would allow my dog, and the best part is the price :D

550$ a month (water included in that) and its spacious as hell... and fucking CLEAN. very nice fridge and stove, and trash compactor.. beautiful bathroom and kitchen (kitchen is also HUGE). spacious living room with plenty of room for furniture and huge TV :2thumbsup: bedrooms are nice , and theres a couple closets. the place is also on the first floor (no upstairs either !!), would be easy as hell to get furniture in that bitch. and its also connected to a laundromat, it goes laundromat, two big offices, and then our apartment, so it gets zero noise from the machines.

also, the landlord only does month to month, which is awesome.. would be $550 plus deposit to move in, not bad at all. anyways this whole big long rant to say WISH US LUCK FRIENDS!!!!! i'm really hoping we get it, we expressed our interest very strongly, and told the landlord (an older guy) that we value the cleanness of it, and that we are very clean people ourselves, and very respectful. we told him with us its no BS, you'll never get the rent money a day late, or have to "wait till i get paid"... we told him we'd like to move in as soon as possible, and have all the money to do so, and if possible we would like to just pay for 3 or 4 months rent right off the bat.

    i am in

wish us luck folks, he should be calling us back sometime tomorrow. i will update this thread with pics the moment we get it, if we get it... (and i realllyy think we got a good chance)..

btw we looked at two places for over 150$ a month more in complexes without utilities that werent even as nice as this place... im realllyyy hoping for this :D

Good luck!! It's always fun and nice to get a change of scenery and move.
550 isn't bad at all for rent, either.. that's about what i pay for my apartment per month.

Wow, $550 per person or all together? You can't even get a decent studio for $550 around here. You can get a mold-infested, cramped, falling apart 1 bedroom complete with a negligent and rude landlord for $750 that's about it. Good luck to you, I hope you get it. I'm looking for a new place myself and need lots of luck finding an affordable place that isn't in the hood or completely falling apart.

hippie, what part of PA are you in? Shit is ridiculously overpriced around my way...

i'm from around pittsburgh, but i live in a college town.. so everything is either way overpriced or pretty decent price if you have a good landlord. i pay around 500 or so a month split between my boyfriend and i, and we have a really decent apartment that's close to campus.

that is a sweet deal. we pay a little over $800/ month, plus utilities (which isnt so bad since we dont waste energy like most people). 2 bed, 2 bath, not enough closets. incompetent landlord. bears. yeah, we want to move. i found a nice bit of land, about 2.3 acres for ~$95,000. its been on the market awhile, so im hoping no one else wants it while im trying to get our shit together.

$550 is an awesome price though. i hope you get it!

Ahh, ok... South east PA/Philly burbs are just really badly overpriced, as long as I've lived here I have not seen the appeal. Central PA is even worse. I'm pretty much stuck here until/unless my boyfriend can find an equal paying job in his field somewhere else... definitely over this area.

    WE FUCKING GOT IT!!!

landlord called me back yesterday at work.. i met him on my lunchbreak to sign some paperwork, get the keys, and give him $1,050 for first months rent and security deposit..

oh... my... god. this place is immaculate. and HUGE. every apartment looks big when you first move in, but its because you dont have all your shit moved in yet to fill up all the space... thats not even the case with this place. we could move ALL our furniture in here, and BUY MORE and STILL have a fucking huge spacious apartment.

and everything is sooooo fresh and new and everything works soooo good. i feel like im on vacation and just rented a nice place for a few days somewhere. and wait till you see my kitchen stoners..... OMG. and we have sooooo many closets and storage space.

so im about to go into work 1-9 right now. when i get out, im stopping by my current apartment and loading up my car with stuff, so i can make another trip out there.. i will take pics of everything and update this thread with them, so i'll post pics either tonight or early tomorrow. and tomorrow i'll take some more of the outside, and backyard and surrounding area and whatnot.. because it will be dark tonight when i get out at 9.

THANK YOU ALL soooo much for sending the love and good energy my way for getting this place.. it worked :D

550$ altogether... like 183$ per person... its unreal. its sooo nice too.

the landlord is cool and on top of his shit (it shows the moment you step foot in this apartment).. he's old, but he's honest and good at what he does. he also owns the laundromat and the car dealership directly across the street.

i have a fucking laundromat steps away from my door... how awesome is that????
