Come mid April or May I'm going to have $500 saved up and I am buying all the summer clothes I have ever needed. I know that's alot of money, but after I hit my teens I've only ever had 3, maybe 4 shirts to wear, sometimes less. Not only does it suck, it means I wear them out faster so the next year I still have nothing to wear and no money to buy anything with. But this year that all ends. I'm too old for that shit and I'm not going to look like a poor hooligan anymore. Yay!
Woohoo! But wait, so since you've been 13 you've only had 3 or 4 shirts? Or is it that many at a time?
That many at a time. When I was about 14 or so my parents stopped buying me clothes, except once in a blue moon. I got a shirt here and there and maybe a pair of jeans, but usually only one or two things. Of course I outgrew stuff so I ended up having pretty much nothing or wearing stuff that didn't fit. It's expensive to buy a whole wardrobe so after I got a job I only bought enough clothes to get by each year, most winters I wore short sleeves and a jacket. But I'm making more money now so I'm going to finally start making my appearance a priority.
You will be Surprised How Quickly it Gets Spent up... Then you will Wonder what you Spent all the money on...
True, but I'll spend it right. No outrageously expensive stuff. This is a practical shopping trip. I'm going to get mostly tank tops and a few pairs of shorts. And if I have enough some shoes. I can't wait.
Seeing the prices of jeans these days, $500 is really not all that much for clothes. I'm lucky because my parents see clothes as a necessity, so if I need some new pants, they'll usually buy them. Granted, I only have like 3 pairs of pants (besides my work khakis) at a time, and I'll wear them until I've busted out all but one, lol. And if I have some special occasion coming up, they'll offer to buy me a new dress, but I rarely take them up on it because I find dresses I actually will wear once in a blue moon anyway. But they won't buy me shirts, underwear, or shoes except for holidays, because I have shitloads of those things already, lol.
that's the great thing about having your growth spurt early on... i'm still wearing clothes i got in 7th grade.
Oooh, have fun shopping! Just be careful. By that I mean, I've had the tendency in the past, when having a certain amount of money at my disposal for clothes shopping, to buy things just to buy them, without really LOVING them, just getting them to have something new to wear, then realizing once I got home that I didn't really like it afterall, or the cut/fit of it, and the said article of clothing bought a spot in a pile on my closet floor, sadly, never to be worn. Take your time and get only what you really, really like. Don't buy just to fill up your wardrobe, and don't feel the need to spend it all at one time. Buy a few things you love, keep the money, and then periodically go out and look for more. You worked hard to save up your money, so spend it wisely! And have fun, you deserve it!
That's the way to do it too! You save a bundle scouting deals like that! I bought my 5 year old little girl these adorable jeans the other day, only paid $6.00 for them and there were originally priced at over $30.00 a pair, and I'm sorry, but I am NOT paying $30.00 for a pair of jeans for a 5 year old, no matter HOW cute they are, considering she might destroy the things (she's rough on clothes, but what kid isn't at that age?) in a matter of months or outgrow them. I love finding bargains, that's the way I buy. I will rarely ever pay full price for any clothing or shoes.
That's awesome! 500 is a lot to me too for clothes shopping and I have expensive taste. Don't listen to haters, have fun .
That's how I am. I have a 1,400 dollar Gryson bag I got at a consignment store for 25 bucks . They didn't know what is was and all of my coaches that weren't gifts, I got for under 100 bucks. If I love something, I'll pay full price, but usually I'll try and find a deal.
Damn. You could really hit up a lot of clothing sales now. But be careful, when I went into the mall the other day all of the Spring stock was in and there were stores that didn't have a single sale going on. Make sure you hit up places that you know are having sales to make your money really stretch as far as you want it to!
Yeah, get the most for your money, look for the sales, the deals, scope it all out before you plop down the cash.
