this is my third set of dreads, they are 2 weeks old today.
I am very happy about them and am alot more appreciative towards they're little quirks than I was with my first set a few years ago

sorry if the pictures are a little big

I just realised you don't have beads in them, you just need to give your mirror a wipe!

Post bigger pictures so the contents of your room can be analyzed and you can be judged.

haha it does look like I have beads in my hair. but noooooooo just a dirty mirror

I don't have any good pictures of my old ones, they weren't around for long anyways. the first set I had for about a month and a half and the second lasted like 2 weeks I think

I backcombed them to start them and I maintain the top ones every now and then by backcombing them. which actually does help them along I'm finding, but I don't think those ones have very much character to them

and I would wouldn't mind being judged on my room hahaha.
    It describes me quite well

It's probably not the best idea to keep backcombing those top ones. Once is enough. The more you do it, it's just gonna damage your hair.

you don't have to keep backcombing, just let them be. They will get loose but that's the idea, give them time to knot on their own :D

I try to avoid rebackcombing because it is basically just going back to square one. A crochet hook can help keep things tidy and stop them coming loose without starting over. Do whatever works best for you. If you like the look of neglected dreads then do nothing!
