I'm used to how the new forums work now. I just want more fun posts to react to I think the people for it are still visiting often enough. The potential is still here! (not sure why they are complaining and lurking instead of making quality posts... :clown: kind of kidding!) I'm afraid I have become slightyly attached to all of you guys Maybe that also secretly counts a bit for all those bored people who are wondering why they keep coming back? Just admit it
I don't know why, but the chat room is a lot more active now than it has been in years. So is the number of people who sign into it, stay for 4.3 seconds, and leave. It sucks when you see this happen a dozen times in a half hour. But again, I don't know that the format drives any of that. As for the format, I'm used to it already. If it makes Skip's life easier, I'm all for it.
Yeah, I generally come back because there are maybe a dozen people here that I actually like enough to keep track of, haha.
i don't really care what the forum looks like. it functions as a forum, so i'm fine with it. it would be nice if there was more decent content.
I miss the stylized backgrounds of the old forums, the new posts function seemed a lot better and search functions in general were easier to navigate. I also lost a social group. With the new site, I enjoy mobile, the particular forums seem better organized. I find myself kind of dedicating my time to few forums now, as where the new posts button on the old site, often had me exploring stuff outside my general interests.
I miss going to someones personal site and seeing/making comments directly. Many have come and gone. There are definately some I wish would start posting again. Mamakcita and several others. Makes you wonder if they're OK.
Most of my complaints are pretty petty. 1. The forum automatically capitalizes the first letter for forums threads, but you can't fully capitalize a word in a thread title. This is annoying because I use grammar as a first indication as to how serious a thread is going to be in the first place and it bothers me greatly when I need to capitalize a word like for instance SNES and it shows up Snes. Like that right there... I feel like throwing my phone at the wall. 2. I liked rep feedback and I used to have a great time reading the barrage of insults thrown my way. Now I run out of "likes" real quickly too and visitor messages, I miss those too. 3. Old users. I miss them and lately I was going through my friends list clicking on all the folks I have t seen for a while and surprise surprise, a lot never showed up after the upgrade. Most look like they tried, but instead left conversations in the status updates which indicates to me that the site is now complicated and they just went away. I actually like the profile customization, it just is disappointing that nobody uses it either. I always have people telling me my profile is cool or descriptive and like I get some people are going to be more discreet than I am but like 95% of profiles have nothing in them. It should be mandatory, I'll moderate it. If you're uninteresting to Irminsul, you are not welcome here. XD
There's a few features I miss about the old forums. Yet I like the modern aesthetic designs of the new layout. It looks much sharper, cleaner, and more organized. Face it, the old layout looked like a mid-1990s website with all the background noise and visual clutter. It was outdated.
Well I like IPB.... No its not as good as what we WERE ON but its MUCH BETTER than I think what Skip WAS GOING TO GOTO @ FIRST (VB4+) Thankfully He listenend to me and did not..... VB4+ is disgusting ugly garbage and a disgrace to what Vbulletin is....... (Excellent SW (3.x and lower))
I mostly agree. But I think it's mostly a confluence of the great purge, and people slowly moving away to things more like twitter and Facebook. They do have a much more dynamic flow of information than traditional message boards. At the same time, a very negative thing happens where people form much smaller, more insulated communities in social media. I think that's the heart of why I dislike Facebook. More than the obvious intrusive spyware nature of it, I dislike the insulation of it. As far as the technical side, I prefer the new look, it renders much better on mobile, and I enjoy the default background not necessarily having to be purple.
