Well, my blackbeauty (1994 Toyota Corolla) has finally decided to retire. So, after we've been car shopping for almost a month now, I decided to get a Yaris. It gets great gas mileage and is beautiful. I'm short and I fit perfectly inside it. I can see out of it really well, which tends to be a big issue for me. It's in the middle of the Atlantic right now, and I should get it around October 13th! I'm so excited! It's a 2009 blazing blue liftback. I'll post pix when she comes in.

wtf is a yaris and why is it in the middle of the Atlantic? Seems like you'll have a lot of water damage to contend with.

Unless you bought a whale or something. THen you'll be fine on the water damage.

They are cute cars that get about 30-35 miles a gallon. ALMOST bought one last year to drive to and from work, but decided we didn't really need it.

I am curious to see how you like it. Did you get a test drive before you bought?

Eh, I'd LOVE a smart car. I WILL have one someday.

LOL...it's in the middle of the Atlantic because it's on a ship to be delivered.
I did test drive one and I loved it. I drive very conservatively so I am hoping to get great gas mileage. I def. need a new car. My old Corolla was used when I got it, then my mom drove it for years, then she gave it to me. It's def. had a full life, but it was time for a new one.

Yeah, I was very surprised at how easy and comfortable it is to drive. Even my husband who is 6 ft tall sat in the back of the one I test drove and said it was quite spacious. Yay European styling! lol

if you're interested in better fuel economy put a cold air intake on it and a magnet pair on the fuel supply line you'll get at least another 5mpg. we've got a civic del sol that's rated roughly around what the yaris is and we consistently get 35 in town and 40-45 hwy. you can also check out hydrogen add ons and fuel foggers. if you're at all interested. :)

    Thanks everyone!
Yeah, I live in South Carolina, so snow is hardly an issue. If it ever snows it's about 2 inches.
I think the car is adorable.
(Give me a break guys, my hubby wanted a Nissan Rogue lol)

    Eh, there about. lol
We bought it with the power package and it's about that price a month. Of everything we looked at, it gets the best gas mileage and is the least expensive. I really want a car that runs on bio fuel but that will come later.
I wanted a small car because I can't stand the thought of buying more car than I need and using more gas than is necessary.

    the yaris is so cute!

i drive said del sol from jrnyman's post... and it rocks on the gas mileage! i dunno what gas prices are like where you're at hempmama, but it just in the last week went down below $4/gal for supreme (which is what i buy). it's VERY nice having a fuel efficient vehicle!
