from the looks of it america is out to dominate the world. like all empires coming into their prime there must always be a cause for war, this is necessary to give imperial troops the psychological moral imperative. empires thrive on war it is their life blood. with invasion comes the spoils of war, slaves and gold (or the equivalent). in modern times it was germany and japan that led the way, the way to win modern war is to launch an overwhelming knockout blow on a weaker foe. the japanese attempted to follow this philosophy but failed, i think it was said by their higher political/military analysts that the failure to completely knock out pearl harbour was the beginning of the end. japan had the obsession of invading islands that could cut off by strong navies. with the germans it was their failure by invading poland, who although weak had allied itself with strong european powers. it was then a second failure to invade the uk (they didn't knock out the uk airforce). the americans failure for the moment is the fact that they haven't basically bombed to smithereens all whose oppose them. if america started massive unopposed aerial bombing of the middle east who will oppose them? america has vast legions of troopers, planes , tanks, submarines, ships, satellites at its disposal. by quickly attacking all strategic countries without nuclear weapons no-one will oppose them. those countries with nuclear weapons will not oppose or threaten nuclear war on someone elses behalf. by my reckoning america's planners see the opportunity to strike. germanys invasions of europe were initially unopposed as they invaded countries who were weak and isolated. invasions by empires are usually calculated and have been planned for quite some time. let the games begin!!
Bush's meaning of diplomacy is to blow the place up and install a western form of democracy at gunpoint. He's not the brightest candle you know....
"democracy" itself being political doublespeak for conquest-led hegemony for our corporate interests.
How did all "our" oil get under "their" soil, anyway? After all, it's all about securing the world's supply of fossil fuel, there's money to be made in monopolizing a resource like that, and what better way to do it than under the guise of spreading "democracy"? I for one am absolutely disgusted that the country in which I live is inhabited by enough morons that somehow these people were elected into power for a second term.
Syria can probably be changed without an invasion, but they need to be stopped from training guerillas to cross the Iraqi border and murder as many people as possible. Usually Iraqi civilians. We've already helped liberate Lebanon from these bastards through sanctions imposed, with enough regional presssure they can probably redraw the entire Ba'athist influence in the Middle East.
The Conservatives who buy into this shit say that the Americans are liberators to the Iraqi people. This is true. They liberate them from their mortal coil. If you support such liberation of the Iraqi people, please, liberate yourself from your own mortal coil. Its the only just way. At least if the US does invade another country, they will bite off more than they can chew. Syria will offer much more resistance, and you can not beat Iran. But they will try nonetheless. Its going to be a very bloody century, so long as the American masses remain in their chains of consumerism.
Unfortunately for us, they do have the manpower to extend past Iraq, all this will mean is a sharp increase in death tolls for US soldiers (not to mention the innocent Syrians they maim, rape and kill). And as for the moral and legal authority, they didnt have it last time, but they had one thing in ample stock: Lies. The US propaganda machine is getting pretty fucking good, it appeals to the basest of all human urges, in essence, not only does it play off the ignorant, but it breeds ignorance as well. Ignorance is insidious.
Maybe you failed to notice that the U.S. trains far more "guerilla's" that have crossed the Iraqi border and killed tens of thousands. Usually Iraqi civilians.
I dont think that we have anything to worry about as far as having another full scale war on our hands. The republican party will never back the bush administration in that degree again. But I'm sure there will be alot of covert operations, air strikes, and that sort of thing for the rest of the presidental term in various middle east countries. just wake me when its over!
What frightens me is that if Netanyahu wins the next election, he will undoubtably do something stupid with Iran, and Israel will probably drag the world into a conflict of biblical proportions. Except there werent nukes in the bible, so it is tenfold scary.
i always figured iraq and afghanistan were just our setting up house to more easily address other more troublesome and powerful nations in the region.
Its called imperialism. Whoever isny under the Americans/Israeli's thumb is the next potential "enemy of freedom". Most Americans do not realize that they are slaves whose chains are their credit cards. Meanwhile Wal-Mart looms over Anytown America like a Hegemonic Leviathan who whips the townspeople with low low prices...
