I've just recently become obsessed with Nirvana. I guess it's because Kurt had bi-polar and wrote some crazy songs. I liked the way he added feelings to his songs. I have to say Negative Creep is one of my favorite tunes they have written. The lyrics are fairly short, but I was so infactuated with the way Kurt put feeling into singing the song. I'm not sure if he was on heroin or just manic as fuck while singing it. I don't have much else to say about the band except they fuckin kick ass. Fell free to share your thouhgts on the band.

Ever since i started (consciouslly - btw is that the right way u spell it?) listening to rock, Nirvana was soon to become one of my least favourite bands, since i've seen it as a totally comercialised band. All the craziness around Kurt seemed so absurd to me, it was like a barbie dolls commercial, a good looking man with a sexy body...music had nothing to do with it!...It was just recently that i've watched a few of their videos...and saw the guy from a totally different point of view..yea kurt was a junkie, but he was depressed man! really really down...it seemed to me that he lived in his own little world...where he among other things created all this music...it was then that i kinda started respecting the fate of nirvana and kurt...if anyone has read his biography, please, feel free to correct me in these facts, i dont really know much about it it's just the impression i got...

Remember to wear some flowers in ur hair::D

    peace an luv

i used to be obcessed with them when i had really bad depression cause i thought i could relate to the music. if anything it made me feel even more depressed. but kurt's guitar and vocals are below average, and dave and chris aren't extrordinary either.

their unplugged album is good for the occasional album, but other than that an overrated band.

I think Nirvana kick ass. Negative creep is probably one of my least favorite songs though Joker! hehe.
I agree with the person who said there 'fame' was overrated but definatly not the music. When judging a band like Nirvana, to me its not only about music but about art aswell and art doesnt have to be talented its just expressive. Maybe Kurt didnt have the 'best' voice from the point of view of I dunno, an opera singer! or whatever but a helluvalot of people loved his voice so thats gotta mean something!

..I think music is about expression, emotion and intensity..amongst other things. but those are in the important in a long list to me, and Nirvana got me on all of those. Im talking intensity of the voice, the emotions and the melodies godamn how can you say they suck!
( and this is coming from someone who barely listens to them anymore! )

yea, i agree that kurt doesn't have the best singing voice. i don't think they are the best musicians. to me singing doesn't matter. hell i like dylan and he's got a horrible singing voice, but a lot will say he's the best songwriter of all time.

Kurt was a musician! he had to be crazy, it comes along with the job description. his voice was beautiful, it was so emotionally intense that some people would mistake it for being bad. And what famous musician doesnt have a drug addiction or alcohol problem?

the nirvana obbsesion is just a phase, i went through it a few years ago. nirvanas not a bad band but they are definatly over rated. i love kurt lyrics, thats the best part of nirvana. krist has wrote a new book on politics about fixing our broken democracy and its pretty good you should check it out. he came to the anties book store to promote his book and i went up and gave him a hug.

also if your into the seattle music scene you should check out these lesser known bands:
    mudhoney
    screaming trees
    mother love bone
mad season, the guys from alice in chains, pearl jam, and i think soundgarden
    jesus lizard
