Hendrix was a fantastic individual. He was like a comet that graced the music world. Both in his music and in his lyrics you can see how different he was from everyone else and he was very loved. But like most individuals, you can see that he was very lonely and wasn't destined for a long life in this world. I'm sure he's rockin on unimaginable stages in the skies above as we speak, he does deserve it.

    Indeed, he is the master.

Today I was outside the music classroom, sitting, reclined on a tree, playing my guitar. I was watching the clouds move, and it seemed they were very close. I closed my eyes and let the tunes ride through me up to the tips of my fingers.

Man, was it good. I did that for about half an hour feeling like it was a second.

Last night I was watching this eric clapton tribute show on wgby in hd! It was really cool to see, and the crowd was gigantic. Anyway, I think Hendrix like idolized clapton or something so it made me want to post this question here since Jeff Beck was perfoming at the concert too. What band was he in originally? I can't think of it, and was he in a band?

And yes Hendrix was ahead of his time for sure. I'm more into slow bluesy type music, and I love acoustic stuff. So the electric of hendrix was never really my thing, but I do like his blues stuff like red house, born under a bad sign, machine gun, stuff like that. Although I still think stevie ray kicks his ass at little wing. But I'm partial.
Sorry for being so random.. You understand.

Ah, good tastes. I can't decide whether I like Clapton's or Hendrix's Little Wing more, they are both gorgeous songs.

Jethro Tull paid a little homage to jimi tonight at their concert in Albany. During a jam there was a purple haze riff thrown in there on guitar from left field.

Yeah improv on guitar is pretty much all I do when high, and yes I have recorded some of my shit and it just dosent sound as good sober- I dont understand what made the notes I was playing so interesting and I loose the bigger picture of the music, if that makes sense. However I was tripping oon mushrooms the other week and I recorded some organ drones that I could possibly use for a song Idea I came up with.

But yeah, Hendrix was pretty good at the guitar, I dont think that can be attributed to his drug habits.

I play fantastic bass while high if I do say so myself. My note choices are bunches more creative and the rythyms become much more varied. While sober I play faster, more techincal stuff and do things that I couldn't pull off while high. Playing fingerstyle while high is slightly harder to do, I can understand why both Phil Lesh and Berry Oakley played with picks :)

O and forget about slapping while high, it just doesn't work for me, although I can slap decently while sober.

Bigblonde, come over and jam sometime man :)
I typically only play classic and baroque guitar, but that's because typically I am playing by myself these days. Since I lost my liscence, the jams with friends and bands situation has sort of disappeared. But I can play pretty much any kind of music, classical is just how I make myself happy and challenge what I can do. Though whenever I played with bands, I sort of prefered to play bass, thats where the real fun is. -

Yeah man bass is fun. Where do you live at? I'd be glad to jam with you sometime. Do you write your own stuff? I've written a couple solo chordal songs on guitar, a couple solo chordal songs on bass, and a countless other basslines to songs written by others. I play upright and fretless as well, I'm a jack-of-all-basses haha
