Yes; the honest word about human nature is hard to swallow by the average American. I got character from my heredity; but nobody can be assured of what that would make of responsible involvement to my concerned capacities to do well for others. I realized courage from my environment for achievement but most can see failures and excuses for there being unresolvable definitions. The character of talents and challenge to improve oneself in spite are beyond definition. We are to used to define fighting for the definable. We didn;t want to define how enemies of America MUST LOSE.
I am not sure what you are talking about. Obama is a politician. He doesn't define my human nature. In fact even though I voted for him I am not sure where he's coming from. The only concrete evidence he's demonstrated so far is a massive political move to protect financial markets. Not much to do with Human Nature as far as I am concerned. As to the enemies of America: one of the hijackers on the planes on 09/11 was Egyptian, 2 were citizens of the UAE and the rest were Saudis, I don't remember waging war against any of those nations. We have friendly relations with them. In fact we let them set our gasoline prices. None were Afghans or Iraqis. Yet we wage war with them?
That's why I voted for him. Especially with Palin as the VP candidate. I did have hopes that as a constitutional scholar he would be protecting my backside. But haven't seen much evidence of that.
You must have missed his comments on his dissatisfaction with the Constitution. But just to be fair, I don't think politicians of either party have given the Constitution much consideration for along time now. Although we might be able to create a list of terms that can be used to define human nature, the application of those terms vary greatly when used to define each individual human.
USS Constitution is a wooden-hulled, three-masted heavy duty frigate of the United States Navy. She is the oldest commissioned naval vessel afloat in the world... She had hemp sails and rigging, and it appears she was named after a special piece of paper??
Not at all, when there were some, but I've always found that people are most receptive when told what they want to hear. Having been an atheist for so long now, I'm not about to become religious now. Life is simply a process of birth, living, and finally death. I'm still waiting to see who is going to post how Obama has defined human nature.
After spending 6 years in 3 colleges and the past 31 years in and near a small college town in Georgia, I've observed that advanced education tends to bring out the liberal side of people. I'm surprised to find that you're an atheist. Most atheists I've known are very liberal; but then, my whole system went into shock for a month when I found out that there are actually gay Republicans. I was interested in that, too. Although that's a little outside of his degree he does have a way with people; you gotta admit, he can give a mean speech. .
I voted for Obama. I regret it. I should have done as usual, write in a candidate from the socialist or libertarian parties(correct, i know seemingly a contradiction socialism vs libertarianism). He sold out or was forced, like most elected politicians in usa, to be a shill for the military/corporate "complex" which is the monster that really rules America. And forces the american military to attack other countries to control their resources we are so addicted to. And millions of innocents in foreign countries have been either oppressed, tortured or killed, due to the "complex's" covert, overt actions and aiding and abbetting regime change and supporting right wing murderous regimes in the middle east, latin america, africa and asia since just after world war 2. google william blum, national security archives, etc. Health care for all is a lie. Obama sold out on the public option. instead he created another market for the insurance companies=offering shit health care to the uninsured, and forcing the uninsured to buy the shit health care policies. The human rights charter rightly says health care is a right. If you are a citizen of France you pay your fair share into a public system. Everyone gets the best health care in the world no matter your social status. And France's "socialized"(oooooo! scarry! socialism! respond the stupid fukks in the usa) health service does it a fraction of the cost of the USA convoluted, greedy, bureacratic, private health care system. You know why France's system is the best and less costly than USA's and better than other National Health Services around the world? A. Profit is not part of the system. Costs are based on the France's resources(human, natural, technological, educational, etc)not on the casino called the market. B, tax payer money is saved because government bureacracy is streamlined. Doctors and patients create and re create the health care system, decide on what kind of care, how long, on each individual patient's situation. C, I am not sure, but I bet there is virtually no way a devious patient can sue a doctor for malpractice. If there is that ability, there is probably a cap on tort payouts.
I agree with you on everything, except it isn't Obama's fault. He tried, hard, but don't forget that "party of NO" that tries to stop everything the Democrats try to do. I thought it was a piece of art the way they finally got the Health Care Bill passed. It's not enough to say the least, but it's a beginning. If you look at the history of all social legislation, it started small and grew as people saw it wasn't going to destroy the world. I may not live to see it, but this nation will have a government health care system some day, probably in about 20 years. .
I don't think Obama sold out. He's managed to deliver on many of his campaign promises. A national healthcare system is controversial and potentially damaging to public opinion, but he still delivers on his campaign. He is working quite bi-partisanly than other leaders have in the past. I don't expect miracles - I expect long-term change, and that is clearly Obama's goal and has been from the start. What Obama is doing is quite revolutionary and will be for years to come. He's like, one of the first US Presidents to pay United Nations dues - something all members are supposed to do anyway since the USA has veto power but Presidents before him neglected to do so - and he even paid all the past dues in full. This is totally different message he's sending to the international community and is a change to democracy.
your reply is well taken and respected. i hope your better knowledge ,and optimism, than mine is correct. peace.
