the greatest comeback in the history politics, especially since he was able to pull conservative support along the way. he is so fucking brilliant.
i made a bulletin post about obama on myspace and got a response from this republican chick, let me know what you think so i got a reply: my response:
they shouldn't be allowed to have anything that is written with them, should be able to answer every question without notes, I don't think they need to be remined on their OWN political positions
The fact still remains that you dont sit for 20 years and subject your wife and children to this hatred and not agree with it to some point. His speech was good but, all he did was beat around the bush. Its obvious that Michelle has been influenced by this whack job preacher and I frankly dont want her in the White house representing the USA. Obama is done and he did it to himself by aligning himself with this hate monger and bigot. He knew this was going to happen. Thats why Wright wasnt around when Obama announced he was entering the race. Oprah has even distanced herself from Obama because of this. She attended the same church for a minute and when she heard the hate that spewed from Wrights lips she left and Obama should have too. Instead he stayed. Why? Becaues he agrees with this nut. He will never be nominated now that this has been uncovered and put to the public. I suppose Rev. Wright is vacationing in the same place Michelle is...
Enjoyed the speech. Senator Obama will have to address these issues on talk shows and debates. looking forward to that. Our media and journos have gone pretty hard after corruption within religous organizations, they have left some markers to follow. Evangelicals have been under scrunity. Let us see if it cuts both ways? Nothing new about people who belive that the Goverment "did" the World Trade Center or developed AIDS for evil purposes or is involved in the drug business. I have heard moral equivication between the US Goverment and AlQueda before. Most people who hold these beliefs are Nader voters. These are important ideas to discuss I hope our journos have the stones to bring up the question of these beliefs. I heard Ward Connerly describe WTC office workers as "little Eichmans" these beliefs are held by a minority of people in America not just Rev. Wright. I heard California Congresswoman Maxine Waters say Goverment imports cocaine, it was a while ago though. I for one do not belive that the Goverment is bringing cocaine into the African communities. Cocaine is everywhere and like anything else in Capitalistic America, it follows the dollar. Plenty of people are casualties of cocaine abuse not just Africians. Our Goverment does not need to get its hands dirty in the cocaine business to earn money. Just when have the Pentagon and CIA ever been turned down for funding before? They can get all the money they need by asking. Congress just adds its own earmarks to the funding bill. To say the Goverment is in the drug business as Rev. Wright does shows huge insensivity to anyone who has been arrested, prosecuted or jailed for posession. Thousands of young Americans are "in the system" People convicted of drug offenses need the sympathy and attention of activists. I wonder how it feels to be jailed for posession while watching our activists protest waterboarding, Jose Padilla or Valerie Plame. If the Goverment is in the drug business: it is in the business of confiscation of money cars and houses of drug convicts. Paint a D.A.R.E. sign on it and drive it around. Put me in a 6x8 cell with Bubba and see if anything more than my human rights gets violated? :jester:
Yeah he did write the speech himself, he was up till two am the night before working on it. http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2008/03/sweet_obama_finished_writing_s.html I think it is pretty good for being tired, fighting a cold and on the campaign trail. GObama.
Uh huh. He should have been a teacher or an actor. He totally lost me when he started griping about the preacher. I agree with just about everything the good Pastor Wright said in those snippets of sermons. He is a far greater and more stirring speaker than Obama. I'd vote for him. I have listened to several Obama speeches and I really think he rests way too much on his racial laurels. He seems to be obsessed with it and everything he says seems to be "colored" with his amazing color and heritage. Great, but lets move on shall we?
Ultimately its what Obama says, not what Wright says that matters. I think public opinion will move on from this.
The one thing I have learned about race relations in my life, is the one thing an angry white man is afraid of, is an angry black man. The Clinton campaign, republicans and hate talk radio, know this, so they are trying to paint Obama as an angry black man. Obama did a great job with that speech, sadly it will do nothing to abate this so called "Wright Scandal". This is basically the same as the "Gore invented the internet" lie and the "Kerry didn't deserve his three purple hearts" smear. None of this crap being said about Obama is true, but it will be repeated over and over again until he looses the nomination, looses the general election or leaves office if he is elected President.
Exactly. Those of us that remember the Clinton administration first hand remember their tactics to discredit detractors. It worked then and it appears to be working now.
Dunno*, I said I agreed with JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING the guy said. *actually I read that it was a HUGE stupid mistake on the part of a big drug manufacturer that was instantly covered up when it was discovered... I don't think the good preacher made Obama look bad at all tho, I think Obama has done plenty of that all on his own. Obama is the one who makes HIMSELF look like an angry black man. He just cannot leave the subject matter alone. His campaign seems to be focusing on his racial DIFFERENCES too much rather than move beyond them. Don't get me wrong, I went into this with an open mind, I've watched speeches of ALL the candidates, trying to sort things out. I would LOVE to think a good and honorable black man could be elected pres. Jesus! I'd love to think ANY good and honorable HUMAN could be president of this messed up country! But Obama ain't it, folks. Mark my words. He's a phoney. He's an ass kisser. He's trying way too hard to run his campaign on sympathy for "his race" among other things. He thinks he's really "all that", being a "black" man who went to Harvard and all... In fact, he talks SO much about his racial heritage that I'm beginning to wonder if HE is racist... He's too devisive. But when he cut loose on the preacher for saying things that many people DO believe to be at least somewhat true, he showed his true colors. That just did it for me. I was totally disgusted with his reaction. He is far too closed minded and worried more about appearances than he is about actually ACCEPTING that the preacher made some extremely good points that are shared by MANY, and address those points rather than brush them and the good preacher to the side. I think he protested way too vehemently... Now I wouldn't vote for him if he were green and from mars and had a halo. That snooty high holy attitude is a total turnoff. Sorry, he doesn't represent me or what I believe in.
I wonder why either Hillary or Obama have been selected as democratic front runners, does the Democratic party want to lose?
