...the election is almost here! Soon it will be past. What the hell are we all going to talk about when it's all over? And the media, my God, the media! Whatever will become of the media, if they don't have the election to blather about? I can't remember what life was like before this election craziness...It's like a far off dream in a distant world. A sweet sweet dream...
I think you are sadly mistaken if you believe this election will end on November 2. I think there's at least a 50-50 chance that the post-election results will be even more chaotic than in 2000. At least then, the trouble was confined to a single state and one candidate ultimately conceded defeat. I don't see that happening this time around.
I see that happening too Kandahar. I'm dreading it cause I am SOOO freakin ready for this to be over. I'm expecting all kinds of chaos after the 2nd.
I think America will just slip off the face of the earth and be done with it already. Damn I hate the politics in this country.
I know, it's wishful thinking. This election is killing me, I'm sick and fucking tired of it. I'd pray that we won't have a fiasco, but I don't believe in prayer, so I'm stuck being irritated by it. Such I life, I guess... I hear they're already having problems with the Florida early voters. Anyone got any info?
Canada has politics? Even with Hockey being on strike? Well, at least there's Currling. If my guess is correct, then the post election season should last until about mid December. By that time, the Supreme Court should be tired of the bogus lawsuits being file (by both sides) and make a final decision.
I have this fear that Bush himself will be attacked. I mean, especially if there seems to be any debate about the legitamacy of the election, there's a lot of fanatics out there that might take it upon themselves. I don't like the man's politics but damn, no need to kill people...that's kinda what we're trying to stop, ya know? That's one of the main things I'm worried about in this election, or the aftermath, anyways. I hope it doesn't come to that. But the way I see it, at least once the election is over, there will be no more political ads, the comedians might start finding other, funnier things to talk about, and the news might focus on other more important things. Yeah, they'll debate and bs about the results, but it won't be as bad as this horrible lead up to the election.
Presidents have for a long time been targets for almost any stupid reasons. John Hinckley shot Pres. Reagan to prove his love to Jodie Foster. I having trouble figuring that one out. Nobody is quite certain why Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK (leaving out the Oliver Stone's movie explanation and sticking the Warren Report, for the sake of this post). I'm sure the Secret Service has taken into account the level of emotion this election wrought in additon to the possiblity of a Terrorist attempt.
As far as the media I think they'll just keep whackin off and spewing the results on tv viewers. As far as what this countries going to be like in the next few months ... man I live in Texas.
I thought he and Bobby were targets because they were really into going after the mafia. Sounds like a valid theory to me.
I would imagine he would become the "de facto" nominee. Technically votes would be for Pres. Bush, but Vice Pres. Cheney would be sworn in as President should he win. More likely there would be many more court hearings before the oath is administered. I have heard of a "living challenged" person still being elected to public office months after dying. Can't remember how that problem was straighten out.
You mean, wossisname, Carnihan, right, the guy from Missouri that died and still beat John Ashcroft handily in the 2000 elections. His wife took his seat. No wonder Ashcroft has a stick up his ass, it must really suck losing to a dead fella. But what would happen if Bush died? I don't think that Cheney, who has the lowest approval rating of the four people on the two major tickets, would be able to run this country. Not enough people like him, and almost no body really trusts him. God damnit when are they going to nominate McCain.* *Funny story: during the 2000 primaries in south carolina Bush campaign operatives called people saying they were conducting a poll. The question they asked was "would you vote for McCain if you knew he had a black child*"? I think this is reason enough to toally loathe this administration, and most of the south carolinian republicans. *he actually has an adopted bangladeshi child.
That sounds about right. If I remember correctly, Carnihan's wife was appointed by the Governor of the state. I don't think approval rating has much effect in this situation. Low approval ratings could indicate Cheney effectiveness with getting things done, even with Republicans controlling both Houses. Less would be accomplished should the Dems take back either or both the House and the Senate.
