Hey, where abouts in the nourth east suburbs are you? I'm in Sheffield! Around 30 minutes west of Cleveland. Lets see..... about me? Well, what do you want to know? I live with my partener and husband, Steve/ We have two children, Jonas (3yo) and Lavinia River-Sage (6 months old,) and our two dogs, Loui (two yo beagle) and Caliegh (6yo Weimer,) and our two adult ferrets, Nimh (white, male) and Zelda (sable, female.) I was raised hippie, in a fairly large family. My mum stayed home with us, and we learned at home and ate very healthy, whole foods, and generially did very hippie/artsie things. My dad was (is) a musician. He teaches in the public schools, but has always been in at least one band. We are raising our children hippie, and loving it! We're pretty groovy people, and you can spot us in a crowd because, well, we look like hippies! I have straight, dark hair to my ... umm... ass, and Steve has redish curly hair down his back, and is often in a utilikilt! (So sexy!) Oh yeah, and we have the cutest kids around. Jonas is easy to spot because he has blonde hair to his shoulders, and Lavinia is always in the sling! Anything else you want to know?
damnit! It was so late last night! We most certainly ARE raising them hippie!!!!! Man, how could I screw that up? lol.... thanks for calling me on that nathan!!!
Sounds like so far there are some very cool ppl. from OHIO, I wish my parents were raising me hippie. I found my way anyways. Hopefully some more hippies from OHIO will respond! Meanwhile I'll tell u a lil about myself. I live in Northeast Ohio suburbs, and I'm going into my senior year of High School. I want to eventually be an educator. I love the theatre, dance and the arts in general. I have one sibiling, but we're not alike at all. I love getting together with ppl. smoke pot, have a good time, and go to concerts when I have the money. I'm the classic broke teenager! Life is pretty good..but I'm looking forward to college!
Education is a good profession. I'm about to start student teaching in a high school down here. I also love going to shows. The last one I went to was Umphreys McGee in Cincinnati a few weeks ago. They blew the roof off the joint. I love those guys! A week from Tuesday I'm going to go see Keller Williams, Bela Fleck, and Yonder Mountain at Kings Island. Woo-hoo! Boot-stompin bluegrass! Sadly, I am too broke to go to the Jerry's b-day party next weekend in VA. Damn! Three nights of Cheese and KDTU! Oh well, Tuesday will be sweet.
Hey hey, I'm from the northeast suburbs too! I'm in Green (if you know where that is ), pretty close to Akron... in Summit county. Where exactly are you at? Heh, that's too weird...
Is anyone going to the fall Ripplefest? I'm hoping to go, but I doubt we'll have the money. Check it out: http://campjam.com/ Is anyone interested in helping with PeaceFest 2005? Let me know!
I'm in Toledo. Going to Hookahville and Acoustic Planet tour in Columbus this Fri. I go to the University of Toledo. Go Rockets!!!!!!
I really used to think ohio sucked. Then I grew up. Either it's getting a whole hell of a lot better, or I was just a jaded teenager (and I know I was!) I am particularlly fond of cleveland. I mean they have so many good musiums, and colleges, even the comunity colleges are good! There are some really great people here, too, you just have to look around a little to find them!
I don't think Ohio's that bad either.. I really liked it when I lived there, and I especially love yellow springs.. That's an awesome place to hang out.. Gotta love the people.
Yeah, Ohio isn't that bad at all. Usually, when I'm traveling or something, someone will ask me where I'm from, I'll say "Ohio," and they'll laugh. It seems that a lot of people think that Ohio is just boring farm land. I don't know why people think that, but they seem to... Ohio is actually pretty happening. The thing that people seem to usually complain about most in Ohio is the weather. Yes, I can agree that at times the weather sucks, but overall, it's not too bad. We get a nice taste of each season. Now that I'm a bit older and don't really go out and jump in the snow anymore, I think the winters are just a little too long. By the time February rolls around, all I want is some nice, warm weather you can be comfortable in. Summer and autumn are quite nice as well, but I'm always disappointed with spring. It rains way too much to enjoy it. Besides, we have cool places to go to in Ohio, such as Amish country (I've always liked going there ), Cleveland, which has a bunch of attractions, Lake Erie for swimming and boating, The Ohio river, The Rock Hall, The Pro Football Hall Of Fame, you name it.... and... well... we might have it! I was going to go to college out of state, but now I think I'll just find a nice, liberal, diverse college to attend here in Ohio. Besides, it's so bloody expensive to go to college out of state! So, what colleges do you guys advise looking into? I plan on studying journalism by the way, but that could easily change. Say lunar forest, you didn't happen to make it to the record show at the Rock Hall this past weekend, did you? I went, and it was pretty great. All of the people there were very nice, and there were a TON of things to look at and buy. The vendors didn't mind at all if you asked them to look for specific records for you, and I didn't pay the sticker price of any of the albums I bought. Just wondering if you got to go...
I'll post a picture of myself before then so you can say hey if you see me. I'll be easy to spot because I'll be the first one up dancing. I like Chicago, too. I'm thinking about moving there next year.
Out here in the woods....Peebles Ohio....Adams county. I moved up here from the Va NC area to be with my husband. We met at Earth Peoples Park 34 years ago, and both always wanted to move back to the woods. Adams county is a rather poor area and that suits us just fine as the taxes are low and there is no rural zoning or permits required to build....yay!!!! We live as close to the land as possible and we love the hills here. We don't go to the big city much, and we have fun playing guitars and singing, Larry works up in Springfield all week and comes home on the weekends..he drives a truck and I am a budding artist. We have a big garden, built our house ourselves and want to get completly off grid and put up a wind generator. The people here are very friendly and helpful.
