LOOSE HAIRS! are my enemy. i think theyre like that becase when i was first sectioning them as they grew i would cut them apart. what can i do to get those little whispy guys to dread? i would crocet them if i knew how, a couple ive just tied around the root of the dread, but theres still a lot ideas?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1vl-DxZyx8 i would just leave em they would aventually dread some were with another dread. but this vid shows how to crochet
Good luck, I have no advice but will be watching this thread b/c I've got them, too and I feel like I probably always will
my advice is spray your head with salt water and smooth it down, it won't be as noticable and the salt water will help them dread faster
hmm that video helps i might invest in a needle. the thing is i used to live on the beach before i started dreading, then i moved up to sf and my salt water is gone i dunked my head in the other day and almost died of frostbite.
well get a crochet hook u can get it from a arts an crafts store or a soawing store. get the 1.00 mm or the 1.50 those are a good size
A crochet needle only costs about a dollar or so. I did that when I first got mine and the back combing wasn't tight enough for me. However, some people claim it can really wreck the dread strength if you do it often. I have seen on youtube a guy who uses a needle and thread. he ties a knot on the end of the thread like you would before sewing. sticks the needle through the dread, and feeds the loose hair through the thread opening near the knot. pulls it through and viola. I doubt that method breaks many hairs. be careful though.
yeah. well im not too worried about damaging my dreads, they seem pretty strong and thick, and i didnt backcomb so they formed naturally and i didnt break hairs.
u have beautiful dreads i think that with time the loose hairs will get in the dread, but if you want faster results the only way is to crochet.
I have trouble with loose hair...a lot of it too! I just thread it through the top of the dread and hope for the best. Really though i'm hoping they'll sort their selves out.
dont crochet it changes the look and feel and techtire of the dread but it also weakens just leave em alone the loose haurs will become new dreads or join existing dreads as they get longer theres noithing to worry aboutr and your only 5 momnths in they locked very fast bujt theyre not done locking yet give em time and dont screw em up crochetting dont think of them as the enemy thoink of them as ypur unborn fetuses, soom to be nborn as baby dreads love em
they look really good, but unborn dread fetuses...disturbing but thats one way to look at it I guess. lol
I would leave it alone, at only six months they look great. I'd hate to see those damaged by a crochet hook. That idea with the needle and thread seems to be the way to go if it's that bothersome.
