im doing my A-levels atm, and its obvious that im not doing even nearly enough work. well my report came out 2day and it looks like im going to fail all my tests in 4 weeks time. i have good intentions of studyin, but i always get distracted/bored. can anyone give me advice on how to stop being a lazy bastard and do some work? even when i read my notes i cant even concentrate on what they are saying..
1: Don't waste these once in a lifetime opportunities for free education and general respect for being there. 2: Eat vegetables, drink a lot of water, hoover and open a window. You usually feel irritated and restless due to malnutrition, dehydration, dust and/or low oxygen. 3: Plan your studies in the form of writing your own personal revision guide rather than declaring "im going to study for 2 hours". You will aim to ensure you understand everything and not miss anything. 4: It looks like you're in trouble so you will need to prioritise your studies, getting an A in maths or english will be better than an A in photography or music. 5: Motivation is a 2 way road, you need the fear of pain and the incentive of pleasure to give you reason to begin. If you fail your A levels you will spend years in a shitty job and you will never achieve anything and you will feel humiliated and hopeless in constant regret, if you succeed then it's university and a regular career with people respecting you for your credentials and so forth. 6: The key to motivation is to make the first step, the best first step is to figure out what you are going to do (see 3), the next step is to visualise what it will be like when you've finished, you will have catalogued everything you've learned through the year and have a better grasp of it all along with a better grasp of what parts you need to concentrate on, imagine that this has already happened, now look at your present situation and compare the 2 to get an impression of what you need to fill in. 7: I've written a lot already so you're probably wasting your time reading this. Get started, f****t.
have you tried doing something you're passionate about, instead of concentrating on school so much? maybe play an instrument or make wood cabinets?
This is a long, complicated subject. The first thing I would ask you is: why call yourself a lazy bastard? You have legitimate reasons for feeling bored. That being said, you also want to do well. But the two things can co-exist--- Good luck, Matty. Keep us posted!
