I was just told I have parkinson's and pot does help some symptoms, So I can probably do this legal. I have a room about 4' X 4' X 8' so I figure 3 X 4 growing space. I've seen 400W switchable systems (MH & HPS ) that I read would work in this space. I've grown a lot of pot outdoors for years but this is the first time indoors. What I'd like to know is, with this system, how many plants should I grow? How big of pots? What can I expect in yeald? How long from germination to "Budnanza" and any other advise you may have. Also do you know of anyone with parkinson's that gets help with medical marijuana......
Use a 600-watt HPS with an EYE bulb in that 4' x 3' space. Buy a ventable hood and fan. Install flo-thru ventilation: a powered intake and powered exhaust, both installed in-wall. What style of growing is up to you. You may feel more comfortable using soil since you're used to it, or you may want to grow hydro. Hydro is quicker during veg. It's also up to you whether to use organic nutrients (recommended for soil) or chem. (better for hydro). 10--12 plants fit well in a 3' x 4' space if you keep them short. Growing indoors you want to keep the plants short. The reason--artificial lights lose energy the further from the plant they are. If you're growing from seed you'll need to top the plants since plants need to be sexually mature when you flower them That takes approx 3--5 weeks. How much yield you'll get depends on how long you veg them for. I veg my plants to 15" then 12/12 them. I end up with approx 1.5 oz. on a 3' tall plant, but that can vary greatly depending on strain. Grow twice as much by setting up a donor (mother) space and space to root clones (you only need a 2.5' x 1' space to root clones). Once you get a known female, take cuttings and you'll never waste time/space on growing males. I prefer Fox Farms nutrients for soil, General Hydroponics for hydro. I would recommend reading an indoor specific grow guide first.
i agree with the 600 watt hps,more bang for your buck than the 400. the 600 is the most efficient light on the market. its perfect for the area you gave. under this type of light in that area,you could take 4 females and Scrog (screen of green) them. i dont reccomend a bush style grow under that wattage of light because of the lower buds and areas not getting enough light.sea of green and scrog are the way to go for maximum yield under a smaller single light. heres my idea for you-a 600 watt hps (venting optional),4 plants in a nice soil mix(2 parts soil/1 pt vermiculite/ 1 pt perlite) in 3 -5 gallon containers(lots of root space) with holes for draining excess nutrient solution.keep the pots in a tray of some type. set up a screen above the plants for training them to lay down kinda,this provides more budding areas,they will stretch alot during flowering(this will fill up the screen with budding sites).or you can just rig up up something to keep the plants from growing upwards.set up an oscilating fan, throw in a digital temp reader that has a long wire that you can hang next to the top of the plants to read the temp at the canopy.buy some nutrient soultions,ph adjuster and a hand siphon. contrary to popular belief,ionizers are junk and dont kill smell. if you have issues with smell look into a cage fan or blower with a carbon filter and run the exhaust into an attic or outdoors. the yield really depends on the environment and strain.you will at least see a half pound every 3 months from seed. "ranger" was right in suggesting a good indoor grow guide. i recommend ed rosenthals books, hes the ganja guru.i owe most of my knowledge to him. i use sea-of-green.com hydro supply store.they are local but have been online for years.very reliable and they dont give any info to feds or cops,the feds actually raided them once and sea-of-green fought them and didnt have to hand over client sales records or anything.they are an upstanding company with great products. if you have any really direct questions-you can pm or email me. good luck OGFARMERTED
I agree with everything said except about ionisers. I have one outside my grow room door. They do remove some smell but not all. When harvested put the colas in a room without an ioniser and smell the difference.
