    Hmmmm,

Its near impossible to tell people what would be a good design because the ddefinition of a good design is largely personal prefference. Anyway, this is what i though about the chosen designs.

Spirit of Gonzo- I actually really like this design. It simple and fun and artistic. The simple lines would cross over well to a tattoo. I personally think that if you know this is the design for you, you should just save up the $$$(you have until february), and deal with the pain. I definetly understand the apprehension of a first, but coming from somebody who has 80+ hours of work, its really not that bad.

Resevoir Dogs- I think this tattoo could end up looking like a big black spot, especially with age. You would need to go pretty big to get good detail in this piece, and, well, that kinda defeats the purpose. What looks good on paper doesn't always come out on skin, and I think you might be dissappointed by the outcome.

The hammers-these could be cool. I like the first choice better. Just makesure you get a good artist to make sure the lines come out straight.

Like I said, ddesign is purely personal, so do what you think is best. The best advice I can give you is sit down with an artist that you like(look through his portfolio of orignal tattoos), and have him draw you one. Custom work isn't necesarily much more exspensive and an artist can incorporate all your ideas and concerns.

My last word of advice is simply about your age. I won't get into the controversy, except to say that many reputable tattoist won't tattoo a minor even with parent permission. Tattooing a minor might even be illegal in your area, and quality tattooists are too busy to be messing with broke teens, angry parents, and the law. So, you are likely left with unscrupulous/untalented/unclean tattooist who are willing to work on a miinor. Personally, I think its cool you're getting ink, but make sure the place is up to snuff before you go under the needle.

    Peace,

    A few tips...
-dont get your ribs tattooed on your first go, Im on my 5th tattoo and might not get another because of how effin bad it hurt.
-make sure the tattoo is something you love love love, not just something people on the net helped pic out (im getting a cover up right now bc of something my friends talked me into)

last, make sure you have a great artist, they will customise, and work with you until you have your perfect tatto. there is no need to get bad work done.

really think it all through, I mean look at how you changed your mind about the reservoir dogs tattoo. Just be careful, and make smart choices.

hmm...I love that Grateful Dead image (I'm a hardcore fan anyway) but you may be perceived as a hippie when it may not be to your advantage. The general views of the public concerning Deadheads is an association with drug culture and promiscuous sex. While that IS a good thing within hippie circles, it may marginalize your opportunities. I know it's not like you're getting a mushroom or a cannabis leaf but you never know what kind of effect that might have.

From a philosophical standpoint, I think you should get whatever you want and your body should be an expression of you. Though in this world, sadly it's not always accepted to be like that.

Having a beard and long hair have not helped people's perceptions of me. It's who I am and though it's not permanent, I have sacrificed how people judge me for who I want to be. I want to get a tattoo and I plan to in the not so distant future but I've decided to be more discreet about it.

I'm in no way saying don't get the Dead tat, I'm just saying maybe you should wait until you're an adult and experiencing what life will be like for you in the future. I think it's beautiful but that's my advice anyway.

The first one is very cool and it would be awesome to have that.
    good luck choosing, and peace!

Yeah Think about what you want, because you'll be stuck with it unless you have the cash to remove it. And that's not 100% if you go to a shotty artist who scars you. I would talk to the artists around and scope out the place. Ask to see their portfolio and pay attention to striaght lines. The artist that did mine was horrible at following the line. I even vectored the design on the computer and had it mathmaticly perfect, and he effed it up.

As for the examples you showed, the gonzo is awesome. I love Pink Floyd and have thought many many times about getting the marching hammers logo on my arm, in the style of an arm band. I won't now b/c there is a skinhead group using a crappy rendition of the crossed hammers and I don't want to be identifed as one of those hate mongers. So there is something to consider. Reservoir dogs, good movie, but ghey tat idea. I'd cross it off your list. Think about what you want in the terms of what means alot to you. Like the Dead "Uncle Sam" logo, looks really good, but will you like the dead the rest of your life.

I have decided (today actually) on what I want for my next tat. I've thought about hula girls and anchors and such. But I've made up my mind on what "theme" I want on my body. I have decided to continue with celt/pagan designs. A sample is at the end of this paragraph. I think what you are doing now is excellent. Infact you may get talked out of the gonzo, but I wouldn't it's really cool. Infact, I would put it across my shoulders. Here is my next tat... I have already cleaned it up on the computer.
