Though I'm sure I'm going to feel stupid, I'm still curious. I don't understand. Why does Bob Marley speak as if we should only love one other person? Shouldn't we love everyone we possibly can? What exactly does Bob mean through these lyrics?
He seems to me to be emphasising the fact that we should not always take the world as we are told to see it at face value. If we always do as we're told and don't ever ask questions how can we truly know we are free? A world where everyone does the same thing, works the same way, talks the same way, dresses the same way, speaks the same mind, well it would be a world of pure and utter insanity. We must always ask questions and must always seek answers. Don't take the head of the nickel to always be the head of the nickel sometimes it may be tails. Dig what I'm sayin'?
I'm not really sure how you derived that from this song though... I do understand that he's trying to promote that message through his music as a whole, but I'm still curious as to what he's trying to say with this particular song.
i think that's what he meant i see the song as a message of acceptance, for everyone to be loved and understood in just the same way, regardless of who they are or what they've done (with ONE love/ONE heart...)
yeah One Love is like... One Love for all. An un-tarnished love, as it should be. I dont think he meant to only have love for one other person, anyway.
