Opium Dens need to be reinstated (well, opioid...)

I have seen lots of pictures of opium dens and they look really relaxing and pleasant. People from all walks of life gathered in silence to simply exist in a meditative way. We need places like that in our modern world full of loud, fast-paced features.

Obviously, you couldn't have illegal ones. But, maybe people with prescriptions could show their script at the door (including Methadone and Suboxone) and get in. I have experiences like those in the paintings from opium dens in the privacy of my home all of the time- reclined on a couch, eyes closed, meditative mood. It would be nice, though to be surrounded by other happy, positive people.

Anyone else ever think of this? Or am I just high and wishfully thinking?

It would be cool, also would be cool to have an actual opium section inside also, since it's so hard to actually get opium in the US, it would be cool, for a "private club" type of place where opiate users could hang out and all, and have a VIP section for people that are known to be "cool" to go and smoke some opium if they wanted. This would be a cool place , but getting some opium into the US is easier said than done, but it does appear from time to time among a few people I know, although it's like 2 times a year and in small amounts...anyway get some kilograms of opium to go in the back room, and blast off!! lol..sounds like a good idea even without the opium den section, but being able to have a place for certain people who would not tell anyone outside of the "private club" about it, an opium den in addition to an opiate den is a way cool idea IMO...lol..peace.

Well its good to hear that there are other people thinking of the same type of thing! Exclusive "back rooms" are always a cool thing. And if everyone is high on opioids and in the same euphoric relaxation, all the better!

I should have a nice little stash of O in july. I'll be there!

I love the whole traditional way of doing it. Lying on your side with a traditional O pipe and then laying back and meditating.

    oh, yes, i am

my feels on addiction are a bit complicated, i'm not against it per se

but the legal and monetary issues, being what they are, that is what makes the thing so destructive

at least in the case of opiates, the same not holding true for something as unpleasant as alcohol

if i could grow poppies i'd be as happy as a baby - but if i have to run a gauntlet of cops to spend a hundred dollars a day that i don't really have?

    that's bad

this thread would presuppose a widespread legalization of narcotics which i am 100% in favor of

the cool thing is YOU can make yourself a nice opium stash starting with seeds from poppies in the spice aisle. Spice Island brand poppy seeds or McCormick Gourmet poppy seeds will germinate and grow to form nice opium poppies that look like this:[IMG]
they are a variety from holland with the same white and purple flowers and high alkaloid content. Plant some seeds and in a few months you can turn your own place into an opium den. :p

I just love the pictures of opium dens. They look so peaceful and serene. Everyone is harmoniously and quietly experiencing the sublime in their own little way. It is really something that only people who have tried an opiate/opioid would understand- that sense of profound tranquility.
