i have nearly zero experience with finishing wood, but i do know my shit when it comes to shaping/drilling. im wanting to make some organic plugs from different types of wood materials. my question is: what type of finish is safe to use on wood to seal it and preserve it and also be safe to wear? also, does it matter what type of wood i use when choosing a finish?

ive heard of linseed oil and tung oil? are these any good? will they irritate the skin?

    thanks in advance

Personally I would go with no finish. I've got wooden earrings, and they are unfinished and they are quite uncomfortable to get in because they are just plan old wood, also they are gauges and my ears always get tight when I take them out for a few days. Anyways, I just lube them up with vaseline to slide em in. The vaseline wears off after a shower or two and the unfinished wood is just fine in your ears.
