Alexis is now 2 1/5. She can recognize and say all of her colors, shapes, letters, and numbers. She's so smart. She picks up on the 'bad' words people say and she uses them....in context. She loves to dress herself and is so independent. She absolutely loves being outside. Everytime one of us go towards the door, she darts our way and begs to go outside. We're fixin' to get our own apartment within the month. It's exciting....I can get her back on track....potty training and whatnot. Since my mom moved back, she has completely STOPPED! It's stressful because I know she gets by with it. I am still attending school, I changed my major, though. I am now going to be a Social Worker/Counselor for children. I think it will be a rewarding career. I've decided not to work while attending school, it's just too stressful. So, I'm selling AVON. It's been alright, so far.
Children grow so fast! I'm glad everything is going well. Social work is a very demanding field, especially in urban settings. Where I work we need like 25 social workers and we have 2. No one wants to do the work, but it is rewarding. I'm a teacher in an urban setting where 90% of the children are living in poverty.
I am very excited about that career choice. People have told me that around here to have a job, you have to be a nurse, but that's not something I'm very passionate about. So, I can always relocate. Luckily, this fall all of my classes I was able to schedule on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I'm not away from Alexis every day of the week like I am now. Then, hopefully that will open the window for a part-time job a few days a week.
