O.K. This is a sticky subject, I'll try not to put my foot in my mouth. I come from a quite overweight family, so I am speaking only from my experience with them and myself. Some of us have addictions (again, my family). Several people I know have a food addiction. I mean when they feel bad, sad, self concious, stressed etc. they eat. As a result they gain weight. It can have a snowball effect, to where a person becomes overweight. Of course we know about the negitive health effects. but that is not always enough to break the cycle. I (in a way) feel lucky to have avoided the food addiction, but I have my own. I say I feel lucky because my addiction(s) is easier to hide from the general public. You can't easily spot a opiate user in a crowd, at least not as easily as you can an overweight person. The shitty thing is that its easy to make quick judgements about overweight people, because those people can't hide there problem. If drug addicts, sex addicts, T.V. addicts etc. were as easy to spot we'd all be on a level playing field. I know that not everyone is addicted to something, but we ALL have problems! Thats my $.02, Did I make it through the minefield?
well true, but like people can have healt problems as well - heart for example or insuline production. I don't care if person is fat or not.. personality is what matters man! So yer addicted to drugs or sex?
yeah specially as yer suffering.. and yer skin is gray.. well prolly everything is based on vitamins, huh? If you get them enough, yer healthy
What matters to me is that I not loose sight of the fact that I too have problems. To answer your origional question, I have been using opiates for about 12 years, however I've been "clean" for about 1 year.
Not all overweight people eat a lot, as someone else mentioned. I eat probably a third or less of what a normal person eats in a day, and I'm still overweight. I'm as active as my heart allows me to be, but that isn't enough to make my body stop hoarding carbohydrates and fat. Besides, just because someone is overweight doesn't mean they are necessarily in bad health. Many overweight people are healthier than their thinner counterparts.
i have a disability that makes it hard for me to walk its called Ceribral Palsy.. and if i dont keep my weight down it makes it even harder so i understand where a lot people are comming from... there are some people who can help their weight.. and there are some who can
