This is what pisses people off about rich folks. This fool has a 22 car garage and says he has to raise prices because of Obama care. He pays his delivery drivers a little over 6 bucks per hour.

I am not a fan of Obama care, but I am a fan of Single Payer Medicare for all/Universal health care.

So anyway asshat "Papa John" is gonna raise the price of his shitty pizzas by around 11 cents per pie.
Oh wow I am so heartbroken, eat a dick Papa John you selfish asshole.

Here is the article, courtesy of http://freakoutnation.com/

Papa John doesn’t want you to have health care, lives in 40K square foot home, 22 car garage, underpays his employees August 9, 2012
    By Anomaly
Partisan pizza maker, John Schnatter, founder and CEO of Papa John’s, is having a public hissy fit over ObamaCare, so much so that he’s announced to the world that he is forced (forced, I tell you) to raise his prices due to the new health care law. Schnatter is raising his prices 11 cents, likely in protest.
These must be hard times for John. Poor guy: John Schnatter is the founder, as well as chairman and CO-CEO of PaPa Johns International Inc., with a net worth of $240 million. John Schnatter has accumulated his net worth through his franchises in over 3400 restaurants around the world. He was born in Jefferson, Indiana U.S. In 2011, John was listed at number 17 on Forbes list as one of the wealthiest (under 40 years old).
Damn, he must live in one crappy apartment….
[IMG]It’s just like my teeny tiny, itsy bitsy apartment!

Mitt Romney said after visiting Schnatter’s home in Anchorage, Ken., for a fundraiser:
“Who would’ve imagined pizza could build this. This is really something. Don’t you love this country? What a home this is, what grounds these are, the pool, the golf course…. This is a real tribute to America, to entrepreneurship.”
[IMG]Papa John can’t afford for you to have health care. See?
    John’s house:
This large and over the top mansion is owned by the founder and CEO of Papa John’s, John Schnatter. The house is 40,000 square feet and it resembles a castle. One interesting feature on this 16-acre estate is the 22-car underground garage, complete with an office for valet parking, a car wash and even a motorized turn table to move limousines. The home also has a state-of-the-art exercise suite and a huge 6,000 square foot carriage house. Unfortunately, there wasn’t any information on the inside of this interesting estate. Click the link below for an aerial view.
You will need to see the aerial view, to capture the entirety of his home. My entire apartment in Manhattan, is likely much, much smaller than this man’s closet.
But, I’m sure he pays his employees well, amirite?
Good ol’ John doesn’t pay his employees enough to rent my 2×2 closet, in my teeny tiny (but comfy!) apartment. A delivery driver makes a whopping $6.41 per hour.
It’s wonderful that this man has been able to realize the American dream — some of it, on the backs of his workers, who are insufficiently paid. But, nevertheless, I applaud his success — but his partisan views made while living in his sprawling mansion, clearly are not in the interest of the middle class.
John, people die without health care.

damn, his drivers are rolling in the bucks. when i delivered for papa john's i made $6 an hour and was the highest paid driver in the company. and i heard after i left that they lowered all driver wages to an even $5. of course, this was a few years ago, and a franchise.

of course, the article doesn't mention that drivers are also paid a certain amount for every delivery they take (i don't remember how much, but it averaged a little more than enough to cover the gas used when i was there), and make more in tips than they do in wages. the people who are really underpaid are the assistant managers.

but yeah, he is a huge asshole. i think i read that he says he's going to have to cut employees' hours now because obama was reelected. although again, i should mention that when i was at pizza hut a few years ago they did the same exact thing, no one works over 30 hours so they don't have to give anyone benefits.

The easy solution, shop for pizza elsewhere. If the pizza is good and the price is reasonable, that's good enough for me. As for the employees, if the wages are unacceptable they ARE free to seek employmant elsewhere, OR ask for and receive a wage that both they and their employer will agree on. Years ago people could be paid in relation to their value recognized by their employer, but now most people have to be paid according to their job title regardless of their value, or lack of.

Because so many people are uniformed, afraid, and/or downright selfish.

I know a lot of loving, caring people that do not want universal healthcare in the States. They do not see it as selfish. They do not think universal healthcare in today's world is a human right. The propaganda bullshit machine has them. Also, many people are struggling and the thought of paying more taxes is very scary.

If the RICH and all these Corporations did not get all these insane tax breaks and pay their fair share that would pay for health care. That and the INSANE defense budget which should be scaled way back.

To sum it up: we live in a sick society. :(

Yep capitalism sucks if thats what its even called at its current state.

What that article talks about is every where, and it shouldn't be anything new to anyone really.... Top dogs fucking everyone over that lays under them until they themselves are sleeping with the worms.

In 2005 I worked for UPS the giant brown shipping company.

I was in the warehouse. No we were not the drivers in the warehouse. We unloaded and sorted everything from everywhere. I was there exactly a year on the week and did well for myself. All 400 grunts including myself busted our ass, and the entire time i was there our contracts were being messed and downgraded. If they had 4 short work shifts it was cheaper than hiring 3.

Why not hire more and lower your work standards? You can always make more this way because their are millions of broke ass people who will do anything to land a $140 pay check each week. If your lucky you land a job and can get your drug fix, fill up your gas tank, to go back to that place, work, and have a little left over for rent...don't forget your bread.

The country needs to bring back a old way, called public execution. Starting at the top of the pyramid.

Then you burn down that ugly house and plant some grass. The kind of grass that grows free.

What's the basis of claim to universal healthcare being a human right?

The plan for most of the franchise's is to cut hours back to part time. This is how to get around employee benefits. This is how the rich get richer and the employees have to go out and find additional jobs to afford their meager existence. Makes me sick. :puke: :puke:

Just to clarify, there isn't a law (in the US) that an employer has to provide health care or benefits, nor is there a law that says an employer can get around benefits by making a job part time vs full time. This is just what employers do. There isn't even a definition of full vs part time.

As for Papa John, fuck him and his shitty pizza.

Does this even apply to a franchise? The new law says anyone with over 50 employees must offer benefits but I doubt any papa John's franchises employ that many people.

i guess i am one of the uninformed and believe the hype that fox news tells me even though i dont watch fox news. but i believe that healthcare should be a choice for anyone who works a 40 hour week. it shouldnt be forced on you like obamacare and it shouldnt be unffordable like it was when i worked at the A&P.

You have to read the bill(s) to see what is in them. Businesses generally do, or hire some one to do so, and take actions as necessary to control their costs. But then again most everyone who earns an income looks for ways to keep as much of their income as possible.

Wouldn't it make sense, if this dude is so up in arms about obama care, to LOWER the prices because of the current economy and give the people a break? damn

That Dude, as you call him, is simply running a business. He's not in business to give people a break, but only to price his product competively and make a profit. Businesses are not charitable organizations, and neither should government be.

No, but I do make a point to give my business to companies that are known for treating their employees fairly.

Uhmmm, isn't the concept kinda included in the whole "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" thing.

Kinda hard to have a happy life with freedom and liberty if you are ill and can't afford to do anything about it.

That's great, you, I, and everyone else should be allowed the same freedom to make such choices.
