I think I posted something like this a while back, but I can't find it now...very suspicious. So, the point of this thread is, How do I know that you people are really out there? I've seen The Matrix and that's not what I mean. Because those people were out there, but then they'd go in there, to The Matrix. No, I'm thinking more like the book Neuromancer. That's where you have all these AIs (Artificial Intelligences) running all over the net and you can't tell if they're real people or not, which they aren't. So I could be getting messages from you and I wouldn't know that you're an AI, (Artificial Intelligence). Not that any of you could pass the Turing Test, unless you cheated or something. But here's the really bad part. How do you know that I'm not an AI (Artificial Intelligence)? Oh, I know what you're thinking, no intelligence coming outta that processor. But I could be faking, just to throw you off, catch you unawares. Then BAM! Something happens! I don't know what yet, but maybe I'm working on it... And please, no "AI stands for Artificial Idiot" jokes.
Who cares who is out there Maybe you're under government control and we're being forced on your mind by them Maybe you've been in a coma for the last 10 years and we're a figment of your imagination to keep you from being so lonely while you ripen up and die in a hospital bed Maybe you took too much of something and what feels like your whole life to you had really just been the last 25 mins on something crazy you took All in all, who cares? Go on with what you've got and quit being paranoid
Yes this kind of thinking can be fun after a spliff or whatever...But I just have this hunch that I'm really here and other people are out there too...What's more mysterious though,is the question of what exactly is this thing we call "reality",of which we supposedly share an experience,and also what it really means to occupy space in the universe,both mentally and physically.Obviously,for example,the mind of an insect would be a very different place to be in as compared to the mind of a human,but they both supposedly share the same reality.
AI is not very advanced yet, certainly in terms of passing the Turing Test. I Think it's pretty obvious that you can get a sense of people's personalities through their posts and know they're for real. Maybe one day computers will have true verbal intelligence, but we're nowhere near that yet. Paranoia is by definition irrational, so look to the evidence for rational answers.

There actually used to be another forum that was all people from here. I had an idea that they actually lived in some alternative World, deep inside my hard drive.
